Hay Fever

And there was me thinking that this was going to be a witty thread about how "Football Fables" had taken the Hay Literary Festival by storm...

:thump:

Cooor, if only. Mind you, I've been told that Waterstones have just ordered 1,000 copies. That sounds encouraging. All I want is 95 sales. That'll be one more than Anthea Turner's autobiography.

Interesting comment. Mate of mine who is a fellow sufferer usually goe's to Spain for his holidays during the hay fever season. He dos'nt experience a solitary sneeze until he steps off the plane at Gatwick upon returning and then his nose and eyes instantly go into overdrive.

Maybe he should fly into Luton?

Unfortunately that dos'nt work. I suffer from it and have been out fishing in a boat 15 miles offshore when all of a sudden have experienced a sneezing fit etc, because the pollen is carried by the wind irrelevant of where you are.

You mean it didn't work for you on that occasion. There is a lot less pollen at sea so the chances of having a bout of hayfever is lower. There is, however, still a chance.

LOL... I was telling that story at a dinner party on Friday, although said that poor old Anthea had only sold 48 copies...

:D

This is madness. How can so many Shrimperzoners have it when so few of my friends get afflicted by this terrible disease and the weedier ones at that? I cna't believe that the typical Southend supporting demographic fits in with the people I know with hayfever.

I only mention this because I frequently ripped the p*ss out of my flatmate who was suffering from hay fever all last summer and it was hilarious. Now, it's still quite hilarious but I seem to have got hay fever for the first time after the Gods of Karma swept down and struck me.

I can't help but blame big city pollution but I don't fancy the idea of something getting progressively worse rather than progressively better!

Is it unusually bad this year then? It seems I've only had it since getting off of the plane from Malta.

Dont like to sound negative old mate but be prepared to suffer for many years. I first got it when i was 8, many decades ago and the only one in my class and possibly the school who had it at the time. It has taken 40 plus years to more or less 'grow out of it', which the specialists had predicted. One theory which has been suggested in recent years as to why so many people now succumb to it is to do with food produce. Basically all the additives and suchlike in the food system today are weakening our immune systems which is why we are becoming allergic to substances we have never had a problem with before in our lives. Sounds a pretty good reason to me.
