"I think they're unlikely to catapult a kid from League One who hasn't been in their system over them."

If they picked anyone from League 1 it would be the Millwall boy - Archer (?).......

I doubt Bentley's even going to be recognised in the League One PFA team of the year, so (rightly or wrongly) he'll be way down the list.

These are the English keepers playing regularly in the Championship.

Blackburn - Jason Steele
Bolton - Ben Amos
Brentford - David Button
Brighton - David Stockdale
Bristol City - Frank Fielding
Burnley - Tom Heaton
Charlton - Nick Pope
Derby - Scott Carson
Fulham - Andy Lonergan
Huddersfield - Jed Steer
Ipswich - Dean Gerken
Franchise FC - David Martin
QPR - Rob Green/Alex Smithies

I think they're unlikely to catapult a kid from League One who hasn't been in their system over them.

Is that with his Southend or Bolton hat on?

You saved me the trouble of looking to see how many English goalkeepers there are in the Championship. The next move for Dan is likely to be the Championship so the important question is not how close is Dan to England but to dislodging one of the players on your list.

They may not all be household names but players like Dean Gerken at Ipswich have played 8 seasons in the Championship so is clearly a solid keeper at this level and others like Tom Heaton have played for England at Under 21 level.

Dan is a promising young keeper but I wonder how many on here have seen the current keepers in the Championship play live often enough to really judge if Dan is any better.

I really hope Dan does go on to have a successful career at a higher level but I do not think it is going to be as easy as some think and talk of playing for England is far too early.
