In a media festooned with the adventures of reality TV at last someone has had the decency to write a letter (todays Metro) concerning an issue that really matters in the world today!
When does soup become stew and (my question) does extra thick soup mean it is thin stew?

Over to you soup lovers...personally.....I like a good Beef broth with dumplings........and a dash of ale or guiness. Which technically would make it a stew

I saw that too. Give me a decent beef stew and dumplings any day of the week, but surely that doesn't mean I can't enjoy a nice cream of tomato too?

I hear you like the cream of sum yung gai
I hear they just unearthed an early Napster jokebook that predates the woolly mammoth.

Also, since when did a cold soup become a starter?
I think it's called Gaspatchio and it's a mediterranean invention.

freezing cold tomato soup with croutons!!!
However it's bloody lovely

Gazpacho... it's a Spanish dish, isn't it...? Tomato/cucumber sort of thing. Quite nice, as it happens - although give me a piping hot broth any day!
