Thanks for that info Lincoln Shrimp. Very interesting. Probably Ron couldn't agree a valuation even if we had been interested.

Or perhaps he wasn't famous enough or old enough (or both of the above).

Ben Whiteman gone to Doncaster -undisclosed fee. Another one bites the dust.

Shock horror - northern based player signs for northern club (also ignoring the fact that he's been on loan there as well!!)

Busy today, now 40 players secured by our opponents. Only 4 teams not made any signings yet, Us of course, Gills Plymouth and the only one in the top 12 not to sign anyone is Brad City.
Leading the signings table are Northampton and Oldham with 5 each, Fleetwood and Bury 3 each, and 7 clubs have snapped up two newbies

The time we get around to signing someone the wheat will all of gone and we will be picking over the chaff ! RM get your finger out !

The usual story. We talk, others act. There should have been planning weeks ago to reinforce our flagging squad so we were ready at the start.

You do get good seats and a few perks like free parking, programme, tea/coffee or soup etc.

I don't pester players like some do. Stuart Pearce had to do a few selfies last week.

I prefer having a chat with an agent or next weeks opposition scout etc. In fact now you mention it Rochdale's scout will be there on Saturday and I have got to know him in the last few seasons. I even tipped him off that JP gets more room away from home and will score against the Dale....He did after about 9 minutes.....We lost 4-1.

Wow.

It's bad enough that a Southend fan actively tried to assist the opposition.

But to then boast of their treason? :omg::omg::omg:

Some very good signings by those around us in the table.. we need to pull our fingers out and get a couple over the line as soon as possible.

Don't panic, Ron is waiting for a phone call regarding our one 'realistic' target

Quite pathetic isn't it. He would be better off saying nothing than a statement which makes the management of the club including himself seem even more clueless.

In fairness, had we signed no-one and not even mentioned we were interested, there'd be more flak around than an Army & Navy Surplus Store!

The inescapable fact is that most other clubs have concluded transfers already and all we have done is talk. You should be preparing long before the window opens, especially if it has been apparent for a couple of months that glaring weaknesses need to be addressed.

According to our rejuvenated Phil we now have between 12 and 14 irons in the fire. I didn't expect that we would change the whole side, but fair enough:winking: mind you there's a lot if reading involved in that and a librarian has been added to the back room staff to help with the process along with a blacksmith.

Maybe they couldn't act until the money from the sell of leonard was in the bank...

It's all about planning, surely. Just as the Leonard sale was probably all teed up before, so should incoming transfers. Does the whole of the fee actually get transferred from one bank to another on the day like a house purchase/sale?

Bury's policy of signing the world and his wife every transfer window is working absolute wonders for them I must say.
