I'm sorry Southminster Gary, but the Soccerette on Soccer AM has a shrine to him in her bedroom. :stunned:

Got a better reception as an ex-player than he did as a player.

Yeh I noticed that. He was a very frustrating player for us tho, given (too?)many chances and apart from a couple of decent games, was dissapointing. Always seemed a decent bloke - how does that come across from pitch to stands?

Having had a little think, I'd say Betsy is a rich man's Louie Soares to be honest!

He got quite a few assists to be fair to him. He wasn't exactly an exciting player but did a job for us.

I think it's a little bit sad that the fact that a former player, who just did his job when he was played and who didn't leave in any sort of controversy, isn't booed upon his return is note-worthy. There are other Clubs where former players are greated warmly (remember the ovations that Maher & Gower got at Spurs?)

Totally agree, sometimes I wonder what sort of people watch football - there is so much bitterness. Gone are the days when a good goal bought delerium from one set of fans and polite applause from the other!
