Doubt it but the signs do look good for an earlier than expected appearance in a Southend shirt don't they. My guess is the club may give him another go in the reserves to see how his achilles holds up, maybe he'll be fit enough for consideration in a couple of weeks or so if he suffers no reaction.

Still I'm only guessing, no-one really knows outside the club. You can't read too much into a single sentence on the OS, all we can really say is it's encouraging news which is great.

Having had a similar injury myself I would suggest his fitness will be pretty minimal. Its the sort of injury that you cant do a lot with till its feel right so I would say talk of the next few weeks is a bit ambitious.

I would've said so too but the fact it appears to be getting better by the day is extremely encouraging.

In a way, not having him start the season is a bit of a boost. You're always aware that, potentially, you have a massive attacking force to come in to the team still. Better by the day does sound encouraging but unfortunately, with his reputation, I can't assume he is raring to go. Likewise, I'm not assuming the opposite but we shouldn't make any judgement until he has pulled on a Blues shirt in a competitive game because that's when we'll know for sure.

Hmmm, I wouldn't read anything into the 'getting better by the day' quote - I think that's just the OS using flowery language. Brushy sounded quite downbeat about Ricketts after the Reserve game last week and said that he is still experiencing discomfort and a long way short of being fully fit.

And personally, I wouldn't risk bringing in Ricketts until the injury has totally healed - the last thing we need is for him to relapse again. I think he's at least a month away from even being in contention for a first team berth.
