A new stadium within the budget for a lower league club will not please everyone. The key is that whatever it looks like it affords us the hope that our future is secure and the current trend of haemorrhaging money may finally end. If we add on field success to FF then we may even be able to fill it. I will miss the old lady that is RH but I know by staying our future is doomed. Who knows, we may even grow to like the new stadium? At least on day one the bogs should be nice.

Not really, you could have seen the exact model over a year ago at the open days. I was amazed how few of the serial moaners never took up the offer. No wonder Ron thinks he would be wasting his time with updates.

A year ago ----- quite a few Shrimpers have died since the stadium saga started many years ago, and going by the speed of progress a few more may pop off before it is completed, if ever.

Bearing in mind I saw the first match at RH you have cheered me up no end.

If you travel to Oxford Tuesday night or remember our wonderful trip to 'The Moo camp' (MK Dons) both have about 8-10 restaurants and all do a very good trade on matchdays and I'm sure for pre/post cinema goers.

Oxford I understand because it's an expensive place to live, so lots of moneyed people live there. As Southend already has an overload of restaurants and takeaways, I just think another ten is crazy.

Wow what an extreme waste of print in the paper. They're must have been zero genuine news so they dragged up the same ***** we have heard for the past God knows how many years... cheers for the nothing news once more.

I first saw the new stadium in the Matchday programme when we played Man City, 1981 I think (date could be wrong). It will be 2081 before a new stadium is built.

While I think that we'll over 30 yeas of absolutely no progress on a new stadium is a local embarrassment - the criticism of the outgoing leader of the council comments are just the usual bias.
The club is quite rightly slaughtered for total lack of information or progress. So a leading council member gives a positive and the moaners moan that he said something.
The anti RM Brigade moan ( with justification ) because of a lack of info but when there is info from a good source? They still moan! Incredible.

Don't worry, you've got plenty of time to come to terms with it.

I suspect it will be space for 10 food outlets rather than full on restaurants so maybe include a family orientated bar, a subway or similar, and a Costa's within that. I would then expect the normal chains such as Pizza Express, Nandos etc.

With the cinema, hotel, and retail there will be a constant footfall with a demand for food and drink along the lines of Bas Vegas. Southend is well served by restaurants but not within walking distance of the Fossetts Farm site for cinema and hotel patrons.

Not forgetting too the residents on the development who will not have any other dining options within walking distance of their homes.

The last time we saw Southend at Oxford we stayed for something to eat after the game (partially to avoid the queues at the car park) and were disappointed at the lack of choice for sit in and eat places by the Kassam Stadium.
