having a decent squad is key to success. We are performing like we are without 2 or 3 who would normally make the starting XI. We have the likes of Deegan,Hirst,Atkinson,Worrell,Payne and McLaughlin who can take over in Midfield and have Barrett and Thompson coming back - I haven't even mentioned Hunt! This is the best squad of players we have had for years. No one is going to want to play us at the moment.

It's good to believe though we have to be careful not to start developing unrealistic expectations. We're currently over-performing and it's likely there will be a correction the other way at some point - as long as we finish above 15th or so I reckon we'll have had a very good season.
I don't think we are over performing, Hunt injured, Mooney and Pigott still to form a solid goal scoring pair. Barratt out injured, but we have a squad with depth this season and the defence spears solid. I think there is plenty to come from this side yet. Looking forward to going to the Sheffield game too.

I would take 7 pts from the next 6 games, the target to pass 30 pts mark before Col Ewes match, to take the pressure off us.

I think we can beat both Chesterfield and Rochdale. As many have said, Chesterfield haven't been great at home and our recent record against them is good. Gillingham have surprised me by how well they have played so a point there Saturday would be good. As for Sheffield United, you never know what to expect from. So...7-10 points from the next four is easily achieveable especially with the squad getting stronger as players come back from injury.

Maybe we should be looking at the automatics based on the form guide! :winking:

All this positivity is bound to be "motty-esque" and see us drop down the table ......... sometimes you play well and just lose. Football has a way of kicking you in the teeth just when you least expect it ..........

Well, that's two of the games gone - and one point so far. Strange that we were so comprehensively beaten by Chesterfield and then they lose heavily at home the next game .......... and according to reports, we were good for 3 points at Gillingham.

Rochdale have drawn their last 3 games now and Sheffield United have won one, drawn one and lost one for their last three games.

Well, that's 3 of the four games gone - 2 points gained.

Strange to see Sheffield United losing to Crewe - Sheffield Utd. have Worcester City at home in the F.A. Cup next Saturday ...... and Worcester City are close to the bottom of the Conference North division - a little different to our game against Scunthorpe.

Yes , there's is a bigger potential upset.

I understand that the "driving force" for Worcester City is Ellis Deeney in midfield - brother of Troy (?) Deeney who was (is?) at Watford. Both convicted of attacking people in Birmingham and given suspended sentences.

So, here we go - the last of the "4 tough" league matches and it's been quite a spell - stuffed at Chesterfield (they played very well indeed), played well at Gillingham, played well 1st half against Rochdale and then a disjointed team (and game) against Scunthorpe and another first half/second half performance against Bristols. Goals scored - 5; conceded - 8.

And in the meantime, a good many players have been either missing through injury or suspension although Barrett and Thompson now seem to be back so that is positive.

Ain't football a funny old thing?
