How about Dean Keates?

The manager Stan 'liked' is in his 40s (Keates is 43) and most recently manager at Wrexham where he has a 40%+ win record and 35% record over his manager career.

Frankly I haven't voted because I haven't got a clue who would be the best to sort us out.But I would like to know why majority are keen on Currie?
As I detailed in post #202 I've looked into it and a few points below:

Knows the NL - 39% wins in 75 games over 2 years, not too bad for Barnet. Ran things on a tight budget if I recall. Even took them on an impressive FA Cup run in which they drew 3-3 with then Championship side Brentford, losing the replay. Not to mention making the NL playoffs as well in the league. An average of 1.4 PPM (points per match) similar to PB in his successful first reign. He wasn't sacked either, just ran out of contract and Barnet were devastated to lose him.

Style of football - likes to play on the front foot, which IMO is the best form of defence. Too many years we've tried to sit back and soak pressure up.

Character - I've heard good things about the guy, a lot of players seemed to thoroughly enjoy working under him. Brings a more modern coaching style to the game. Never heard of him throwing players under the bus.

Just thinking aloud here. Although he doesn't fit in the Mid-forties age bracket, I don't know whether Ian Culverhouse would be in the Collymore 18? 2 promotions on the bounce with Kings Lynn and obviously knows players at this level, whilst having a playing career at the top level with Norwich and lower levels with Swindon to name just a couple of his clubs. Been assistant to Paul Lambert, now at Kings Lynn, would he want to come back to a club of our size and potential compared to the size of his current club, in a first team capacity, not necessarily manager? I wonder.....

I am not sure Dean Keates would want to move South, but he is a capable manager and was unlucky to lose his job at Wrexham. He also a gritty character who knows how to operate on a limited budget in the National League.

Stan is following Dean Keates on Twitter. We should not read too much into that, but I think Keates has already demonstrated he is no mug when it comes to managing in the National League and probably has the best years ahead of him.

Tell me.

What interest would Flynn have in joining us?

It's not about "ambition" it's about being realistic
Club with far greater potential than his previous one. Potentially regular 8-10k crowds for a team doing well in League 2. Who else coulg get that at Tier 5 or 4? A new stadium on the horizon (we hope) as well as new training facilities. Nice area. Currently out of work and lots to prove. I appreciate he going to have to satisfy himself on a number of levels in terms of what he is walking into BUT there are only so many jobs and if someone gets it right he knows the club can go as far as being a mid/bottom half Championship team.

Alternatively he can just wait a few months and get a better job in the Championship or League One
