Haven't been on there for some time and just read a few articles and noticed the appalling spelling. Some of the sentences do not even make sense!

Adam Barrett Article:

'Former Bristol Rovers impact has made an instant impact on the team....'

Does the person not actually read what they have written before uploading?

I think it's discraceful that the official site is so littered with spelling misstakes, don't they prove read the articals before they post them?

Like it. Subtle.

This is a forum, you expect there to be planks that cannot spell.

Thats the official site. If you brought a paper would you expect to find mistakes in every article you read?

If I read the Guardian, yes.

But as the official site would be one of the first ports of call for opposition fans, surely poor spelling and sentences that don't make sense give off a very poor impression of not only the writer of the article but also the club itself?

If there are mistakes made on the site I would rather them be down to outside influences, e.g. using a source for an item that is later proved wrong, rather than down to spelling and grammar which are easily checkable and should really be second nature to a writer...

No writer is free from the danger of spelling and/or grammatical errors and ShrimperZone is no different but then we're not paid to keep this site up and running. (Indeed we fork out a sizeable sum each to keep ShrimperZone online.) But an official site (and the matchday programme as well; it used to be riddled with errors) really has no excuse. They both represent Southend United Football Club and should be 99.99% free of errors if not entirely. Proof-reading of the site and magazine should be essential, as would a sound knowledge of grammar and sentence construction. That the content of the official site has improved is beyond doubt and a huge slap on the back to the club's Commercial Dept. for acting. But now they need to ensure that the content is free from error and subsequent ridicule ...

The official site is a joke, the amount of spelling/gramatical errors is ridiculous. The content has improved but they need to sort out whoever edits the site.

Or, for that matter, planks with poor grammar.

There's never as much irony on the official site as there is on SZ either.

According to research at the University of Steveh1510, Cambridge students obviously have far too much time on their hands.
