Just to take up a bit of time, and to keep my mathematic brain ticking over I thought I'd see how many goals each of our strikers would score throughout a season if they started every game. I will show findings first judging their goals to starts ratio and then their goals to apps including sub apps ratio.

I know this doesn't show us how good a striker is but it could give us a clue as to how many they could get at this level (only taking league goals into account as it is impossible to predict how many cup games a player might play throughout a season, plus the level of opposition could vary).

Formulae: 46 games/ apps= x.
x*goals= estimated goal(s).

Charlie MacDonald

1 goal in 11 (15) apps.

Estimated goals- 4 goals.
Taking into account sub apps- Rounded to 2 goals.

Alex Revell

Results void as no league goals scored.

Hal Robson-Kanu

3 goals in 6 (2) apps.

Estimated goals- 23 goals.
Taking into account sub apps- Rounded to 17 goals.

Lee Barnard

9 goals in 13 (4) apps.

Estimated goals- 31 goals.
Taking into account sub apps- Rounded to 24 goals.

Matt Harrold

Results void as no league goals scored.

However judging on last year-

3 goals in 13 (23) apps.

Estimated goals- 11 goals.
Taking into account sub apps- Rounded to 4 goals.

Gary Hooper

I'll do a Southend and then a Hereford (League 2 section).

Southend

2 goals in 9 (4) apps.

Estimated goals- 10 goals.
Taking into account sub apps- Rounded to 7 goals.

Hereford

11 goals in 19 (0) apps.

Estimated goals- 26 goals.
With sub apps void as no sub apps made.

James Walker

I'll do a Southend and Southend/ Yeovil section to give a bigger league one picture.

Just Southend

4 goals in 16 (1) apps.

Estimated goals- 12 goals.
Taking into account sub apps- Rounded to 11 goals.

Southend and Yeovil combined section

7 goals in 27 (3) apps.

Estimated goals- 12 goals.
Taking into account sub apps- Rounded to 11 goals.

Leon Clarke

I know he doesn't play for us anymore but just out of interest I applied the formulae to Leon Clarke.

8 goals in 16 apps.

Estimated goals- 23 goals.
With sub apps void as no sub apps made.

This is just a bit of curious fun but it could be pretty interesting. I am also aware there is more than this to be taking into consideration etc but I was bored.

Hope you all enjoy.

haha.. good work! wish we had some stats on minutes played because the mins per goal ratios would be quite interesting. you could probably make an assumption that a sub appearance is about 15mins and then calculate it

Could I possibly leave that one to you? This was tough enough for me.

If you are talking about subs that Tilly makes, shouldn't that be 3 mins!!

valid point... doesn't change the results too much though.

out of all the players who have scored (league only) this season

Mins per goal/games per goal/goals per season

Barney 137, 1.5, 30
Kanu 190, 2.1, 22
Walker 364, 4, 11
Bailey 399, 4.4, 10
Gower 423, 4.7, 10
Hoops (southend only) 435, 4.8, 10
Macca 395, 5.5, 8
Barrett 705, 7.8, 6
Mulgrew, 900, 10, 5
Clarke, 1058, 11.8, 4
Francis, 1193, 13.3, 3
McDonald, 1215, 13.5, 3
Black, 1418, 15.8, 3

Mine looked better!:p

Very good Pubey. Nice maths.

So if we played all our strikers in the same team, according to your stats we'd score 99 goals.

That should be enough for promotion next season.

Tilly? Are you reading?

Tilly? Are you reading?

Don't forget our free scoring midfielders occupying the back 4. We're sorted!

Anyway I never said that is what they'll get. Like Barnard will ever get 31 goals for instance.

Or you could look at some of our defensive stats because it is our defensive record, not our forwards' goalscoring record, which is why we will be playing league one next season.
