Poor again im afraid

this is why we need the rep system back. red methinks

Why is having an opinion red material?? I am not denying that it is a win that we desperately needed but it would have been nice if we had put on a decent performance and knocked the ball around a bit instead of playing long ball after long ball towards Harrold.

You don't know that. And either way, who cares? It was a cup tie. We won. We scored five goals. If you can't be happy now then why bother with any of it?!?!

Maher stormed out today after being told he wouldn't be playing today apparently, disgraceful behaviour from the club captain if true.

As for Harrold, whereas the level of abuse he recieves isn't deserved, its definitely justified. I gave the lad time today as, lets face it, in recent weeks our other forwards have drawn blanks... But christ is that boy useless. Looks a player completely shot of confidence and ability.

As I understand it, Maher knew yesterday that he was being rested for today's game.

As for Harrold, I understand Shrewsbury are interested.

Good to get a nice win today, doesn't matter whether it's pretty or not, a win is a win!

A win is a win, no matter the way it comes around.
Five goals - will install confidence
A win will instill confidence
A new signing will increase competition for places
A nice draw in the 4th round will please every one.
If every performance was broken down, no win would be 100% perfect - lets just enjoy the feeling of victory and hopefully the boys can get back to winning ways in the league on he back of this !!

Up the Blues

Why are people happy when you play badly but win in the league yet when we do exactly the same in the cup we think about what might have been. What did happen to the optimistic football fan? I'm sure there used to be loads of grinning idiots who were happy to get the chance to watch the team.

We weren't that poor at all. I was pleased with the effort and application and thats all i ask of the players, if they play poor but gave it 100% i never complain.

Done the rounds in the Trust Bar prior to the match, friend of mine went for a smoke and saw him storm out of the ground...

Personally, and this is my own opinion, I don't think Johnny Herd ever meant to be on the bench, was the 17th man, and replaced Maher following his outburst.

Would be a good story, but Herd was always going to be on the bench and Jamie Forshaw was the chosen 17th man today.

I'm unfortunately going to go along with the we were crap opinion. I thought there was at least more commitment and effort our there, but were lacking in actual quality. Bailey was completely anonymous for most of the match and it was another quiet performance from McCormack. Harrold was, well, Harrold and praise again for Hooper for having an affect from the bench as I thought he once again brought some energy and drive for us. Lovely calmness for the 5th goal as well.

Oh and now I remember what its like to suddenly panic that we have nobody between the sticks for corners, only to realise that Darryl is actually in the goal but he's just being dwarfed by all around him.

If you had been at Layer Road today instead of Roots Hall you would have something to complain about, no pasion, no will to win, no tactics, and the players were even worse!
It is fast becoming a joke at Colchester I have said all season it looks like a relegation year, and I think its going to be correct.
We could well have the Essex derby back next season although it will be in league one, at least we will be able to give you 2000 seats at Cuckoo farm (or whatever it will be called).

Best wishes in the next round lads, it could be Liverpool all over again :)

Like i said, If true... Obviously what I was told wasn't :p

As for certain player performances, I think Charlie Mac battled well yet again without pulling much off, Morgan had his best game in a Southend shirt (Cynically, as Leeds show the slightest of an interest in him and more than likely had scouts present today) and I was very impressed with the black winger today who was #9 for Dagenham... Had everything you'd want a winger to possess.

Jon Nurse, the striker. Couldn't hit a barn door for them before typically finding his ability when he came to the Hall! He was woeful when I went to their game against MK Dons the other week, but was a changed player today.

Free Speech

I take it from this comment you want any negative posts removed??

Just to make sure that this one isn't removed....

We were probably the best side i've ever seen in my life. Our defending was incredible Barret was like Bobby Moore at the back. Matt Harold is probably better than Pele......

I think I've made my point!

....and I'll have a pint of whatever you've been drinking.

seriously though...

Great game today.

10 minutes is a long time in football. Where i was sitting it was all doom and gloom when they took the lead. When we took the lead again everyone completely forgot it was only Dagenham. And everyone seemed extatic.

Shame Morgen couldn't have played like that in his entire spell with us.

I'm hoping the confidence is back now though and we can push on. We need to sort the defending out...how many times did we lump it straight in the air in our own area?

What was their keeper all about? Their manager told him to go back in goal, he just shook his head. Brilliant comedy!

Such is the magic of the FA Cup.
It really felt like a great cup tie as well with the atmosphere today.
When the 'keeper had the fracas then Clarkey went down, ref came running over as 14 or so players jostled around and in the meantime the ball went up in Daggers' box,for one second it looked like a Sunday league game with two pub teams, absolutely mayhem!!

Bloody fantastic!!
