Have been having a bit of a row on FB with one of hubby's ex colleagues who used to be a good laugh but has become pretty much of a political activist, pre-election for the Greens, but subsequently for Labour, and in particular for Corbyn, plus organising rallies for "#Black lives matter". She happened to call me a "privileged, white, Tory", which I took a certain amount of umbrage to. She then asked me to read this article about "privilege".....

http://everydayfeminism.com/2015/07/what-privilege-really-means/

I think it actually made me more angry. I don't think anyone would doubt my politics, but I am quite moderate and not far right leaning. I am certainly white. I still don't think I like the word "privileged" though.......I consider myself fortunate to have been born where I was, and proud to be British....is it a "privilege" though? As the conversation went on, I asked if she was saying all white people (not just here in the UK) were "privileged"? And, yes, it turns out, that was what she was saying.

Am rather gob smacked at the attitude, and wondered what people on here thought?

Yeah, not being funny Kay, but if I see some woman purporting to be a Green/Labour/Corbyn supporter, who's also organising rallies for a backward "cause", and then goes on to quote a website called "everydayfeminism", I'm pretty inclined to think they're a typical attention seekeing, hard-done-by, self-righteous wrong'un. Wouldn't even waste my time on such a plank. Natural selection should prevail

I wouldn't have a public spat on Facebook if I were you. No one is going to come out of it looking good.

Find out what boozer she drinks in and pay her a visit instead.

Lol, we're not likely to frequent the same places, she's also become a raving vegan, even to the extent of selling her rather large collection of boots, shoes and handbags. If we weren't getting bombarded by political postings, then it was articles about how animals are treated, not drinking milk from animals blah blah. Not sure if those beliefs even allow her to drink anymore, isn't that cruelty to hops or grapes or something?!

I'd be interested in why she's selling them rather than just throwing them away. Surely by selling them on she's profiteering herself, and perpetuating what she supposedly despises by allowing someone else to make use of them.

Yeah, but it doesn't sound as if she is a Socialist, so it's alright to make a profit.

Maybe she donated the money she received to Baader Meinhof?

Wait outside her local, then kneecap her using a bamboo cane, might not actually kneecap but you will have immense pleasure beating the granny out of her.

God, no! She's a strong woman who can handle herself and has about 30 years on me!

Anyone else hoping OBL's 'friend' signs up for SZ?

Not a hope she will, she's no friend of mine, just someone I met once. She worked with my hubby in the prison, was invited to our wedding, failed to turn up with her partner as they'd had some falling out as happens in the majority of her relationships, and has no interest whatsover in football.

Interesting point about selling the shoes and that, probably used it to fund some protest group or rally or something!
