During Monday's Question & Answer session with Southend United Head of Youth Ricky Duncan, the Under-18s coach repeatedly made it clear that SUFC is "your club" and will belong to the fans even after he leaves. Ricky is especially keen to foster these links, and there were a number of suggestions made by both Ricky himself and from the floor. The Shrimpers Trust would like to find out the feelings of members and the general fanbase about the following ideas. Please vote in the poll above, selecting all options that are applicable to you.

Would you attend an Under-18s match kicking off at the end of a first-team match at Roots Hall?
A number of clubs in the past have held youth or women's matches at the end of first-team fixtures. Kicking-off at, for example, 5.30pm, would you stay in the ground to watch the stars of tomorrow in a Youth Alliance League match or, potentially dependent on agreement, an FA Youth Cup fixture?

Would you attend an Under-18s match kicking off at 1pm/2pm at Roots Hall when the first-team are away?
Some clubs have experimented with later kick-offs in the Youth Alliance, and Blues have previously (a number of years ago) played Youth Alliance games on occasion at Roots Hall. If the first-team were playing up in the north-east or north-west, for example, and you didn't intend on travelling up there, would you come and watch the Under-18s against their big opponents (e.g. QPR, Millwall, Brighton, Orient or Colchester)?

Would you attend a presentation by Ricky Duncan and other youth coaches at Roots Hall after a first-team match or midweek in another town?
Ricky has held a number of Q&A sessions and given a series of presentations to Trust members in the past, but these have generally been poorly-attended. Ricky is a passionate speaker about youth development and Southend United FC, and he has a lot to say; the evenings are always good value and it would be great to see more faces there. If the event occurred after a first-team match in the Shrimpers Bar, or in another town like Basildon or Chelmsford during the week, would that encourage you to attend?

At the end of last season, the Trust held a Q&A with Ricky and Kane Ferdinand, who had by then made a real impression in the first-team with the Shrimpers. Again, we would have liked to have seen more people there to hear what the pair had to say. Would you attend a straight Q&A session with Ricky and a couple of Under-18s players, or even a couple of Centre of Excellence players who could give a short and enlightening presentation that would give an insight into what it means to be a youngster at Boots & Laces and also aid their educational development?

Would you attend a Race Night or another event to raise money specifically to be donated to the Youth Department at Southend United (please specify)?
If the money raised was specifically ringfenced to be given to the youth department, would that encourage you to attend an event organised by the Trust? Depending on the event, it may also be possible to get youth team players in attendance to mix with supporters and encourage interaction before their hopeful ascent into the first team.
