Just looking over at Bristol City's OS and noticed that they are using Aston Gate to host music events. In coming months they have Ronan Keating and The Who taking to the 'field'. I was just thinking maybe we could adopt a similar use for Roots Hall as a means of gaining additional revenue. Thoughts?

Get all the Mrs Southend fans in to watch Gutts strip tease!

Might make the club a fiver

The by-law states that the Roots Hall site can only be used for sporting events. This is the rule that saved us on more than one occasion (Anton Johnson anyone?) but doesn't allow us to host any music events...

However, once the new ground is built....

In the seventies, the Hall was used on many an occasion for music concerts. Most notably, the Royal Philharmonic played Roots Hall one Saturday night! There has to be a quiz question in there! It really comes down to noise and objections from local residents.

could be wrong here, but i though in the 70's Jethro tull and Fairport Convention played at the hall?
