Plans to bulldoze flats to allow a new supermarket to be built on Southend United's ground are being pushed through.

Sainsbury's, which will bankroll the Blue's new stadium at Fossetts Farm in return for developing Roots Hall has submitted proposals for the relocation of St Mary's Court.

A decision on demolition of the four-storey blocks of flats will be made by August the 2nd.

What on earth have they all been doing for the past 2 or 3 years. I thought all this stuff had been sorted ages ago. The pizza man can look forward to living till a ripe old age before there's any danger to his shop.:omg:

If he knocks out the rest of his properties as quickly as he does football stadiums its no wonder he is always skint.

I had to go to a seminar yesterday for work about "Public Consultations & Communications", and I met a guy who works in Sainsbury's Property department. Unfortunately he wasn't the guy responsible for the Roots Hall purchase but he said he knew the guy who was, and he'll try to get some info for me for next weeks seminar :)

Anyway i did have a question - I can't actually recall Sainsburys having a Public Consultation about their proposed store. I know SUFC have, and planning discussion have happened with the council, but has Sainsbury's done any public consultation or communications direct with the public?
