Well the carousel has turned again and many fans have waved goodbye to pessimism and are sold on the annual 'we can do this' donkey.
What are the pluses? a) A small but seemingly competitive squad.
b) Player versatility in most positions.
c) The season is upon us and we are still in business.
d) Positive vibes coming out of Fortress RH.

What are the minuses?

a) Squad still gelling.
b) Perceived lack of goal menace.
c) The killer 'raised expectation/hope'.

I think its about how we start the season. Not the team but the fans. If we start well lets not get carried away with things and see where we are after Christmas.
If we start poorly or indifferently, again, lets see where we are after Christmas.
A good start to a season often gets people overexcited and when/if the poor run comes the reaction is overboard.
A poor start and we need to make sure we are not on the players and managers back and killing their morale.
Lets get behind these boys come what may. UTB

100% agree, must get behind the team and make roots hall intimidating for opposing players and not our own!

Would like to back up the posts above. Can those who berate and slag off our own players just hold it in. Wouldnt it be better to have a reputation for being right behind the team, giving support to all wearing the blue. The examples we can talk about are the stuff of legend.....Doncaster in tge play offs, Southampton for an already relegated team supporters of both those clubs witnessed true support. Yet in recent seasons the scorn and some misplaced sense of entitlement has led to players and manager alike publicly stating this is a problem. FFS the name is in the title southend UNITED........lets clap a bit louder, shout a bit more encouragenent, resist the urge to groan for a misplaced pass. Let's get right into the opposition players and show the lads on saturday we are with them.

I think it's important that each game we give it our all and don't necessarily wait for a response from the players... we need to be a catalyst, because quite often it takes a goal to wake up the crowd. As mentioned above, let's make RH a fortress and that will go a long way towards a successful season.

I agree. I watched last nights programme that detailed the rise of Swansea City from the brink of extinction. I felt that we couldn't achieve that as we don't have the same level of 'togetherness'. It was some achievement for their fans to take control in the way that they did.

Let's make this a season to remember and become the twelfth man! UTB.

It's important we do our bit to persuade others along too, let's get those bums on seats and make Roots Hall the fortress it was several seasons ago - a good home record is one of the easiest ways to give you a head start on the promotion trail and it's within all of us to do as much as we can to help supporting to achieve this.

If SUISA are serious about bums on seats being part of their aim, then let's really be pushing this message to the town's populace.
