Echo News Southend United pay off HMRC debt in full

Not true. The embargo is only lifted after the court case, not when the funds are paid.
I'm no insolvency expert, but if: 'United have settled their tax debt and a winding-up petition against them has been dismissed in the specialist Insolvency and Companies Court'.
Isn't that the end of the court case, and therefore free to sign out-of-contract players once ratified by EFL?

Does it also mean we can bring back the players left out in the cold? Or were they never really part of the plans anyway?

Is the embargo actually lifted now? I really hope so, but something is bugging me that this isn't the only debt that is preventing it being stopped.

Going by the logic that it’s been almost/roughly one year since we were placed under that embargo for non-payments, it’s fair to assume that we can’t be too far off the next tax bill.

We had better get some players in a bit lively then.

Correct, it has now been paid nd EFL will be informed accordingly, therefore we can sign unattached players until the window re opens

Ideally yes, but Ron has made several references to the fact that he’s already brought in more than what he had originally planned for, which doesn’t fill me with great optimism tbh.

He may well be thinking that we have to make do with what we’ve got (until January at least), and hope for the best.

It’d also be interesting to know where we are with the salary cap and how much room we have to spend, if we have the money to do so.

I reckon we might see some players come in on contracts until Jan and review it there, I wouldn't be surprised if both Macca and White leave in Jan so that may free up some wages under the cap.

I would like to think that they’ve know about this for a while now. Hopefully there is a short list of free agents we are aiming to bring in. We desperately need experience now, January is to late!

I'd love to see both back regularly but what if 3 combined appearences across 12 games is as close as they come? Always seems to be one step forward, two steps back with McCormack, White and Akinola at the minute. Might give the section of supporters happy to throw caution to wind cos those 3 are due to imminently return something else to contemplate instead of constantly slagging off the members of our squad who are fit and can play because there might be some chaps with a bit more experience who we honestly have no idea when they will actually play for us due back at some point.

What are the squad regulation rules if you lose players for the season ? We had to report our squad of 23 to the EFL immediately after the window closed, So given the dreadful news about poor Ralph, are we allowed a replacement? and can we do it pronto if a spot is available?

It depends on if we can afford it or not.

Again, in my eyes Ron was very deliberate in reminding people that he’d brought in more players than he’d planned for.

We absolutely need some new faces, that’s a given... but we absolutely cannot keep making the same mistakes by throwing money around and living beyond our means
