Difficult one, this. I want us to start winning games, but if it starts happening now that increases the likely hood of Waddock getting the job. Maybe we need a bit more pain for some long term gain?

The interesting thing will be a win.
It will say much about Bond, and if we lose, just as much about Waddock.
That said, it might also say we're stuck with a squad that's going to relegate us in April no matter who's in charge.
I'm looking forward to another transfer window and the disposal of at least six.
Names supplied on request.

I always want Southend to win. We desperately need points. A win today would be a confidence boost for the team which would really help the new manager, whether that's Waddock or any of the others people want. We've had enough pain.

Go on then....which 6?

McLaughlin, Mantom, Dieng, Hyam, Demetriou, Blackman, Robinson (permanently), Kelman (loan), one of Cox, Hopper, Humphrys, one of Shaunessy, Ridgewell.
That's 9 out permanently and 1 out on loan. I'd swap a keeper out and take another in too. Leaves room for 2 or 3 replacements - not 10. Results in a much more focussed first team squad and some room for some kids around the fringes. Easier said than done I know. Any questions?
