Stan Collymore Statement.

Can I just ask him if there is any pressure on Ron from the supporters groups or has the lethargy spread so far that an acceptance of the current norm is all there is? Not a dig at you as feel SOS probably are the most dynamic current group but a question to understand.
Yeah there is pressure not just at our end but from the Trust to their credit, the trust chairman for example is always in close communication with Ron Martin, it’s a real joint effort at the moment. As I have said earlier in this thread we have reached out to the trust and club to try and get this situation sorted, if that does not work then we have to accept Stan not playing a role and the work continues

Personally I'm gutted that Stan will no longer be involved and to see Southend fans on here arguing is disappointing to say the least......
Ron does it yet again I'm sorry but in buisness you dont shake hands on an agreement then change the terms or modify it when you put pen to paper !
The constant ups and downs of supporting our club is now seriously getting me down so thank goodness for the close season, I need a break from the club I love so perhaps in 2 or 3 months time I will feel differently but at the moment the actions of our Chairman in terms of the way he treats fans, people in general, employees etc sickens me........
For the last 10 days I have felt quite optimistic and upbeat but now who knows what is going to happen next?

Dear all.

On Thursday last I agreed with a handshake, roles and responsibilities to be Head of Football Operations at Southend United Football Club.

However due to an arbitrary change in those roles via an email to me on Sunday evening, I have notified Ron that I no longer wish to engage with him moving forward.

I hope the club employs a CEO in the coming days, that alone will be worth the last 3 weeks.

I wish you all the very best of success in the future, thank you for the kindness and support ?

Stay safe.

Stanley Victor Collymore
What was the arbitrary change, please?
I'm very interested to know. As am sure many others are.
Couldn't have been that small, to make you leave the club.

Tbh the whole point of the forum is reasoned debate. If people structure criticism in a reasonable manner then it's all good. Throw away remarks for the sake of causing friction however........

I think your agreeing with me.. but to be clear. I’m all for debate and differences of opinion, it’s what makes this place fun. I just can’t stand the obvious digs, personal insults etc.

Thanks @TrueBlue. Appreciate you guys do a lot of stuff in the background but wondered if any genuine pressure was being applied.

North Korea did the same they are now a nuclear power.

In footballing terms that would mean champions league matches at Roots Hall and enforced re-enlightenment for our less committed fans.

People would certainly think twice about sneaking out at half time.
It is true North Korea are a nuclear power but it is also true there is no relegation in their league!

Except some people don’t use the forum for reasoned structured debate & just want to use it as a place to wind other users up & dig people out. Even certain well established members are guilty

Many of us can deal with these idiots & just brush them off with an equally salty comeback but others take the bait so exacerbating the issue.

What did pique my interest is Stans reaction to those few minority fools on the forum negatively questioning his involvement (vitriol as SC said)

There is ALWAYS going to be somebody who has non-constructive criticism to whatever one does in this life, there will NEVER be a situation where everyone agrees with your point of view or ideas & people can be openly hostile.
That’s just life. You just have to get a thick skin & deal with it. I do wonder how long he would have stayed in an official capacity at the club In a role that would have no doubt had it’s detractors.

The majority of us are backing Stans involvement- that should be enough for us & him.

I’m all for sarcastic, witty comebacks (I HATE the word banter)but anonymously posting with the aim of getting a rise out of someone is quite annoying.

Which is exactly what i was alluding to in my previous post.

It would appear that for some reason Stan has chosen to use the negative comments as a sound bite rather than the 95% plus of positives that aimed in his direction.

This leaves me to think that maybe this is for the best. Stan has built a great reputation for his understanding of the game and work outside of playing football and while its refreshing to see former players take such an interest, it seems this comes with certain downsides.

I genuinely wish him the best and thank him for maybe educating Ron a little (time will tell) about what's needed, but for me, I expected a little more than just a late night email "saying I'm out and good luck", for the second time in as many weeks.

Life is not a straight line Stan, you of all people should recognise that.

I have had a load of posts deleted. Not sure why. Could an admin please message me to discuss?

Thanks.

There were some ridiculous posts in this thread. They are being deleted and any subsequent ones that mention them.

Can we all play nicely now please...I know this is a hot topic and it was always going to raise reactions one way or another, but we are all SUFC fans so lets try to keep it civil.

Thanks.

Stan, many thanks for trying. I appreciate your efforts.
As an old cynic, I am not wholly surprised by the outcome.
And here is a bold prediction from me:
despite all the talk and speculation NO CEO will be appointed.
We will carry on as before.
RD as DOF is essentially him performing the same duties as before but with just a different job title.
We have tried RM and PB running the club before and it did not end well.
I will repeat what I have often said before: a club that is a shambles off the field is unlikely to succeed off it.

Never seen such a reaction since the Flavs / Bart debate !!

We don’t know for sure what’s driven this, so all speculation at this stage. But if Brown has stamped his feet and sounded off to Ron, then it’s incredibly frustrating. No criticism against Brown if so, as he’s the gaffer. He’s entitled to have his say. But why on earth Ron would even discuss roles and responsibilities with Stan without involving Brown is beyond me.

Certainly feeling a lot less optimistic than I was. Felt like we’d genuinely turned a corner and were putting some strong structure and stability in place. Thank you Stan for all you’ve done so far and for educating many of the fans, myself included, as to the inside workings of football clubs to help us see more clearly what’s going wrong and where we need work. I do genuinely still hope that once the dust settles, an agreement can be reached.

Don't really like the implications of your post, but thanks for the response.

Maybe when the dust settles, and if the fan groups can convince him, Stan can actually still be a good weapon for change from the outside. After all he has a profile in the game far larger than our club itself and I’m sure he can assist in many fan initiatives.
