Stan Collymore Statement.

Dear all.

On Thursday last I agreed with a handshake, roles and responsibilities to be Head of Football Operations at Southend United Football Club.

However due to an arbitrary change in those roles via an email to me on Sunday evening, I have notified Ron that I no longer wish to engage with him moving forward.

I hope the club employs a CEO in the coming days, that alone will be worth the last 3 weeks.

I wish you all the very best of success in the future, thank you for the kindness and support ?

Stay safe.

Stanley Victor Collymore

Anything to do with PBs comments about wanting a direct line to the Chairman ?

Whilst I’m extremely gutted that things haven’t worked out as I’d had hoped with @stan collymore , I’m not entirely shocked.. this is Ron Martin’s Southend United we’re talking about. The owner continues to find ways to disappoint the fans.

I would like to just say a big thank you though to you Stan though for all your efforts over the last few weeks. For a brief while you made me think that the club has something to look forward to both on and off the pitch. Yeah

I really don’t see any surprise or shock here.
As I said on an earlier thread , PB ( actually not just PB but several managers ) are not likely to want a CEO AND another layer ( whatever the role Stan agreed to ) involved in the running of the club.
I don’t blame Stan in anyway but neither do I blame PB - it’s one layer too many IMO.
I get the impression that Ron is trying to play or please too many people here.

And there we have it folks. Ron has played the perfect game, used Stan’s intent to blunt the supporters actions and then changed his mind at the last minute to leave us disappointed as expected but now we have no way for direct action until the new season.

Now what can we expect from the upcoming season? Ron wielding his sole power from above with just PB as his manager offering us no stability beyond that. Short sighted as usual.

For me I thought this relegation was actually a blessing in disguise giving the fans a voice and perhaps finally putting a structure in place for the club to build on. Now I’m left wondering if this is simply just another nail in the coffin. Hope I’m wrong but it feels all too familiar now.

Thanks for stepping up and offering your assistance Stan, I would like to say though that please don’t think that just because Ron has messed you around that he actually speaks for the club because I believe the majority of fans would still welcome your help to change this club for the better, even from the outside rather than from within the halls of power.

Not even the opportunity to discuss this over a phone call. When will Ron ever learn that it is the way that he treats individuals on a personal level that has tarred the club with such a tainted reputation?

Really disappointed at this latest news, Stan gave us all hope in an other wise perfectly dismal period in the Club's history.

I truly hope that this can be worked round and that Stan can still remain as involved as he'd like to be. What he's done for the Trust inclusivity appeal has been just the tip of what can happen with his involvement at the Club - and I thank you @stan collymore for what you have already achieved there for us.

Thanks for all you have done Stan, and make no mistake you have achieved a lot. Not least the rekindling of we fans enthusiasm for our club and making RM aware of the vital need for structure and forward planning.

I suspect Phil Brown is responsible for Ron's change of mind. I'm not surprised but I had hoped that you might have been able to continue at a distance encouraging your many contacts to engage with Southend United.

Thanks again Stan, and keep looking out for our results both on and off the pitch.

Chin up everyone. If nothing changes over the next few weeks we know what to do....

What's the next statement RM has decided we don't need a CEO either ?‍♂️

I wish I had the confidence others are showing on here in RM (with his abysmal track record in running our football club) and PB (who was sacked 3 years ago for good reason and by far the majority of supporters agreed at the time was the right decision).

Personally I don't think anything will change at SUFC and we will be back to being mushrooms.

After 53 years I don't think I can do this anymore I am sick of the same old from hierarchy throwing people under busses, listening to rubbish for 20 years about a fantasy ground I don't give 2 hoots about and the laughing stock embarrassment our club has become ?

I may be completely wrong, but this stinks of Ron telling Brown what was agreed and Brown stamping his feet and refusing to accept somebody in that role with clout. His comments in the Echo about the restructing telegraphed this. So Ron gives in to Brown, redefines the role, taking away the substance Stan said he wanted... and informs Stan by email to add salt to the wound.

When will this club learn?

Edit: and thank you @stan collymore for all your efforts. You have been a breath of fresh air but in all honesty, this club under RM doesn't deserve you. But the fans do. As usual, we are the losers in all this.

Stan, thank you very much for your unstinting efforts. It has inspired many of us that follow the club. I have a question. Is there not a chance of resolving your differences with the Chairman on a face-to-face basis? Sometimes, communication by email can be difficult and inadvertently cause disagreement.

Sorry but has Stan given up again after an e-mail?

Have you at least attempted to respond for what they in business call negotiation?

I understand Ron has changed things, lets be honest it is Ron so fully expect that but after all the passionate speeches we have been hearing, I do expect a little bit more than this venture dying with a whimper.

To be fair to Ron he did not solicit Stan's assistance so maybe we should wait and hear what he has to say?
Throwing and busses ? for me personally I am done listening to RM, if we had all fallen for his statements we would now be a championship club in a sparkling new ground.

19 CCJ'S, transfer embargoes and 20 years of promises of a new stadium oh and the not so small dismal prospect of hoof it and run football awaits in the NL.

Right now the future looks bleaker than ever ☹
