Massimo, what's with all these abbreviations on the players' names? You're starting to sound like mrsblue. Socks - We used to have a cat called that.:winking:

So many of the names are so looooonnnnnnnggggggg and unusual spellings, what has happened to the Smith, Jones, Brown, Black, White.
Easier to use nickname types as Mac, Mc, MC etc are very tough on my recollections.

Smith - Our goalie
Brown - Our Manager
White - Our long time right back

Ok, I'll buy that, but any more mrsblueisms and I will have to claim my £5.

Brown will start with Atkinson, although I don't know why. Just don't see what he brings to the side. I really like the idea of Bridge and Leonard in the middle, with McGlashan and McLaughlin out wide, with Mooney/Ranger (when fit) and Cox up front. I don't think there would be many better attacking line ups in our league. However, we might/probably be a bit exposed defensively!

Yes, Atko can be very fustrating - too slow to control and move with the ball and often passing the ball backwards rather than anything forward ............... but just to balance up the conversation, Atko will run for 90 minutes, provide good defensive cover, break up attacks and is largely reliable/doesn't give away free kicks rashly.

Perhaps with Mooney and Cox up front and with McLaughin and Maggy available as outlets, Atko might just have the sort of options that show that he does have a forward pass in him ................

Lets not forget the player of L1 last season and their top scorer, Bradley Dack will need 'minding'. Not a job for young Bridge.

As we found out last season away when Deegan done such a good job. By stopping Dack he stopped Gillingham.

Absolutely. Atkinson is a Carl Pettefer type player. Unspectacular but solid and does a decent enough job at this level. Unlike Pettefer Atkinson isn't a starter when everyone's fit but a very handy player to have in the squad. Also capable of playing right across the midfield. I can see why Brown likes him.

I thought Mooney had good games against both Newcastle and Colchester. I'd go for him over Ranger at least for the league match and have a look at Ranger for the cup game. Not yet sure that Jack Bridge is read so I'd play Atkinson in the league match and, as with Ranger, have another look at Bridge in the cup.

Very unlikely we'll see Ranger for a good few weeks yet. He's injured and Brown has already said he'll need another pre-season before he's involved so expect to see him in a couple of U21 games before he's in the squad.

Does Atkinson make many tackles? I don't recall him doing the crunchers that Tims (or Deegs) used to; his mileage must be very high and he is a useful squad player but I am not sure he what is needed if we want to WIN more games.

I may be wrong, but wasn't it Atkinson's tackle that took Owen Garvan out of the game on Saturday and earned him a yellow?

that's if ranger sticks about longer enough and don t go walk about

2nd comment from you about him going "walkabout" - the guy's injured, not sure how much "walking about" he's going to be doing with a groin injury! :winking:

Is there any chance that you could do a match report on the Colchester game? that may enable more people to understand your opinion on the football rather than the colour of the kit or psychological health of some players who didn't play.
However IF you didn't go to that game then please enlighten us after the Gillingham game. Thank you.

So come on then Mork what is your starting 11 as you've decided to chirp up in a few threads now.

As the new kits have been launched I'm surprised Mark hasn't gone walk about for another year

I suppose he's waiting until he's got all the kits first. I heard he's waiting on his socks for the away kit and will be posting a thread shortly to complain about the club shops poor delivery time and stock levels.

Surely this should be sock levels?
