Sacking Sturrock after gaining 83 points would be harsh but if you look at his record in the last 23 matches, won 9, drawn 4 and lost 10, this is not even top half of table form. This despite him supposedly strengthening the squad during that time.

Seasons appear to be too long for Sturrock these days. Last season our last 15 games were relegation form (just 15 points taking us from 9th to bottom half).

Yet this season our form at the end of the season was excellent.

Maybe we should go for the winter break and miss the middle bit out...

There's nothing fickle about wanting better.

Better entertainment or better results, preferably both.

Big problem is that at least half the teams in this godforsaken division do not allow you to play good football so sometimes route 1 is the only way.

Results are needed over performance plus better defending at set pieces which has always been our achiles heel!

Anyone who want to see him get the sack is a stupid fool, I am 100% behind him and we are lucky to have him and I am backing Sturrock to go one step better and finish in top 3.

83 points and you want to sack the manager!
I'm sure he'll get another job if we do.
This is Southend, guys. Go support Man City. They are picking up fans like no tomorrow at the moment.

Please reveal the league games where Bilel Mohsni has cost us points? Don't say Morecambe away as the majority of the blame there lay at the genitals of the Bonkgate Three.

Someone I know swears he saw Mohsni messing with the fuse board at Aldershot.

Seriously give Sturrock a break. There were 24 teams in league and we came 4th. 83 points, great achievement and if he can get us promotion he will probably stay. Some young hot shot manager wouod probably leave as soon as they make a name for themselves, just like the Crewe players will do in the next few years.

Ok if Sturrock has killed off our promotion .Then the same can be said about Martin LingTorquay was flying high as well finished 5 behind us but three weeks before the playoffs they were in second then they went on a six game loosing run Then they got beaten by Chelts in there play off 4-1 so face facts it happens and it hurts get over it .

As much as I dislike Sturrock's style of play the fact is we finished 4th, the play off's are bollocks, we deserved to go up because we had more points than 5th 6th and 7th.

First of all I'm not in the Sturrock out camp. 83 points is fantastic and I can see why people are cursing the abandoned game at Aldershot. but really and truthfully this shouldn't have overly mattered as the team tossed away too many silly points. No I don't expect the team to win every time but we gave away more than our fair share of dropped points. The Shots home and away, Plymouth away, Bradford home and away, Daggers at home, Burton at home and Northampton at home to name several. If we had picked up one more point from any of those we'd be fine so I don't lay the blame solely at the abandoned game on boxing day. Moreover at christmas time we were around 8 or 9 points ahead in the automatic places and I believe the team's average position was third. So for me the team chucked a large portion of their chance away. The fact is we were ahead of the play offs comfortably in the top 3 at many stages so really we've gone backwards. It would have been different if we'd gatecrashed the play-offs then I woyld have entirely agreed that it was a positrive season in the main but we actually went backwards in terms of the autos.

Disappointed with criticism on here. Sturrock has done a good job, we got more points than ever before and missed out on wembley by 1 game. What have people got to do at Southend to get some backing? At uni and my house mate is a bradford fan, huge club for this level and they are struggling in the bottom half, we should all be grateful that we support a team that has been winning football games. Sturrock's first season was all about keeping us afloat and builidng a base for promotion, that was done. Second season aim was to go up which we came within 25 minutes and 2 games of doing. Surely he deserves another chance? Criticism is ridiculous, there are other clubs in this league as well, people who critcise should take a look at other teams in the division and analyse their seasons. We had a good year. Never pleasing some miserable people.

Drucey I take the argument on both sides of the coin. I understand the improvement on last season but I do think we went into reverse regarding the autos considering we were miles ahead of 4th place at times. This season you can see it both ways 50/50 in my opinion. I also repeat I'm not in the Sturrock out camp.

Sturrock is far from perfect, but he's also far above average at this level. Football may not be the most exciting, but league 2 football rarely is - thats another reason why it's so important to move up the leagues.
