This Sunday I'm up against a reasonably tough opponent that plays 4-4-2 pressing and last week gained a creditable 0-0 draw with a very strong team despite only 25% possession in the first half and 10% in the second.

I'm normally 5-4-1 pressing. I'm curious as to whether 5-4-1 AIM has anything going for it or should I just 5-4-1 with no tactic this week ? I'd consider sacrificing a training berth if 4-5-1 AIM is recommended.

My IMs are reasonably skilled with excellent stamina and my central defenders are good. My wingers are nothing special and my wing-backs are improving but still nothing to write home about.

If he's pressing then you've got to make sure you create plenty of chances. I would try to play two strikers if you can. Sacrifice a training slot and play 4-4-2 or maybe even 3-5-2 if you can (though formation experience may be a problem).

Alternatively go for the same 5-3-2 AIM I recommended to BB, you don't need to worry about his wing attacks as he won't be attacking. Also, try to play your IM's offensively (if they have half decent passing).

For balance I set both wingers to ECD and a defender to EIM.
