It's pretty amazing that we have a young and talented player who's most obvious and natural comparator is Messi:smile:

I think it's a bit soon to be talking about Premier League standard, as this is the first season he has really broke into the first team at League One level (and even then he doesn't seem to have secured a permanent role under PB). He still has the odd game where he gets bullied and knocked off the ball too easily. To PB's credit he's eased him into the side and it's made him the player he is now. I think if PB had rushed him in too early he would have failed and would be out on loan somewhere else by now.

The potential of the lad is enormous and although you have to select a side to suit his style it seems to be worth it (particularly with Barnett). I actually think the lad would be better off staying with us for the next couple of seasons to learn his trade at this level and bed down a regular starting slot. If he carries on developing as he has done i'm sure the rewards will follow.

So do a lot of players. They haven't got what Payne has in his locker though

Do you know what, I texted exactly the same to my Arsenal supporting nephew this morning.

A kind of Wilshere and Eastwood rolled into one!

You mean he's an Essex chav with a country Yokel accent.

not so many players knocking about with the confidence on the ball and skill that he has. A bigger club will take a punt on him.
