As a West Ham fan, I was at the game.

Which side were you? The West Stand is a lot further away from the pitch than the East.

A nightmare because of the people is a price you pay for success. To say you wouldn't want it is saying you wouldn't want Southend to be successful, in my opinion.

Why live in Wickford? I jest. I used to. I left after 85 minutes. I was back at home in Leigh on Sea at 1045pm. C2C rocks. Stratford will be a nightmare I agree, but not necessarily the standard problem of a large stadium so don't worry about that.

Food prices on a par with any London venue. It's disgraceful I agree. Take food and drink with you. I paid last night - I won't again.

You won't need the loo if you are too tight to buy a drink. :winking: i went after 42 mins - straight in no problem - was it a shocker at HT?

Go to Specsavers.

You can emotionally connect with players at a smaller ground? How? I bow to your powers.

Indoor football is quality.

Can't believe you went to watch West Ham - what a traitor!

So you chose to miss almost 10% of the game, not included any time added on , seems a bit of a compromise to compensate for poor travel infrastructure and toilet facilities.

But , I suppose , the phrase for West Ham to use is "Beggars cant be choosers "

The great thing about The Amex in my eyes is the fact that it was expandable.

I wouldn't want a three sided stadium like our last planning application, but it also would help atmosphere having 8,000 supports in a 22,000 capacity.

I left after 86 minutes and 15 seconds. I left because I had to get home, get something to eat and get up for work the next day. I left because of the vast quantity of people leaving after 82 minutes following the 3rd goal. It was game over. My life is more than football so I chose to go expecting the worst regarding the train situation. Having not been to the stadium before I left earlier to see whether this is something I will need to do for the league season... It was a social experiment.

I've not heard that phrase before :winking: and I have no comment to make regards a phrase that you suppose

Neither yes nor no really. One thing I noticed too was the diversity of the crowd. Never seen so many females or ethnic groups at a football mach.. gave it a real family atmosphere!

Many West Ham supporters - or mainly people wanting to see the stadium ?:winking:

I'll find out what its like on Sunday as someone has got me a ticket. I will feel like a traitor, as I am missing the game against Gills tomorrow.

Sounds like all new stadiums. Even at Col U on Boxing day we had to queue for 20 minutes for a warm plastic bottle of expensive Heineken.

See you Sunday, rigsby. Where are you sitting?

They don't own it though do they? paying rent (someone said £2m a year) backward step in my opinion, like selling your house and renting.(just my opinion).

Mind you we used to own our ground, but now RM does or one of his many companies off shore:sad:

Can't believe so many people that post on here went! :stunned:

My timeline was inevitably full of people posting photos, got rather bored with it. You could see they could barely identify the players. For all the criticism of Wembley, I loved it there and would welcome the chance to return - obviously with our Blues playing there!

I went last night too - it got the 92 back up to date before the season had started. Box ticked, happy, don't have to go again unless we play there.

It was neat and clean but a bit soul-less and felt more like a stadium for a final rather than one you'd like to call 'home'.

OBL aside, took some pics which are on my Roots To The 92 Facebook page if anyone is not too bored of seeing similar. Bit of floodlight porn in there to tempt you. https://www.facebook.com/RootsToThe92/

now for the real thing to start at Roots tomorrow - looking forward to that 100% more.

I'm afraid one can't get away from the fact that nigh on all new-build stadia are designed, built and based on business cases which put footballing use firmly at the bottom of the priority list. That's not to say that viewing standards, general comfort and, of course, safety are not of paramount importance - the regulations we have to work to in the industry make British stadiums some of the very best in the World from these perspectives.
So, as long as we have sufficient footprint, funds and planning permission, the priorty for us will always be to deliver a development which gives us the flexibility to maximise non-matchday revenue.
As for safe-standing, forget it in the short-medium term. Even if the footballing powers that be can get their collective heads out of their arses, the business case doesn't stack up - certainly not based on the unit cost of the current limited market solutions verus a regular seat.
