Yes, he was offered a contract, but he has since come out and said he doesn't want to be here.

At the moment, he's still our player (I think), and has been offered a contract (whether he wants out or not is a different matter) so he should be on the list somewhere. So surely he should be in the bottom list but with the same criteria as JFC and Laurent.

Or he can have his own seperate list :)

Agree with Beefy & MK, we don't need more strikers. A 20+ goalscorer is a wonderful thing, but it breeds reliance on them to score ALL the goals ala Freddy, and when they're injured/off form you're screwed. Think it was Hartlepool who got promoted from league 2 with a top scorer of 11 goals, but had about 4 players on 10-11 goals.

Would like to see a goalscoring midfielder, plus a couple of CBs, a keeper, a CM backup (think O'Keefe/Moussa/Christophe will go) and a utility player (come home lewis hunt!). So still 6 more in (with 4 going out).

I'd argue that perhaps we DO need another striker, it all depends on Spencer as he's the only one I can see maybe being prolific this season but that's not a given. A 20+-a-season goalscorer is absolutely invaluable particularly with regards to getting out of the bottom 2 divisions. You only have to look at the sides who have gone up in the last few years from League One aqnd Two and every one of them has had a prolific striker in their side. Scunthorpe with the likes of Sharp and Hooper are good examples, along with us and Freddy - we wouldn't have achieved those promotions without him. A goalscorer is the most important part of the jigsaw, in my opinion if Coughlan and Evans sign we have an extremely good League Two side on paper and one that should be aiming for automatic promotion....but a 20+-a-season man could very well be the missing link come next May. Without signing someone (and if we did we'd presumably have to wait for Laurent and Christophe's departures to cut the wage bill) Screech is our only hope. If he can get goals this season we have a great chance of promotion if the embargo is lifted.

Crawford will be loaned out, Corr will either be injured or suspended most of the season goign on his past record so yes would like another striker.

Moussa

Total (IF all non-contracted players are confirmed) 18 players (1 GK, 4 Def, 7 Mid, 6 Fwd)

Not Sure's (Out of Contract?)
Francis
Moussa

Francis has moved on but not found himself a new team yet. Moose is still training with us I think, there in lies a difference. I think he may U-turn yet, he was blistering at the start of the season then fell away toward the end (prob re: lack of being paid) and I think his poor form may mean he struggles to find a new club.

Francis has definitely moved on.

Let's hope the Moose likes what he sees, gets paid and wants to stay - again someone who could do very well in League 2

Would be good if someone could confirm whether Moussa, Christophe, Laurent and O'Keefe are still involved in training...

part time zoner shrimptank bumped into Moussa in Lakeside on Monday evening (ie during the Derby game) he said he wants to stay but really feels like he is being pushed out as he is a "Tilly" player .. he can't claim a free transfer due to his age so just has to sit back and see what happens

Make of this what you will, personally i've not heard of a player telling a fan he is leaving in a one to one convo like this .. they trot out the same i love it, don't want to leave blah as they think its what the fan wants to hear, and if he REALLY wanted to stay surely he would've been at RH to support the team that evening

So with a little over 2 weeks to go until K.O. how is the squad shaping up?

Presuming that we clear the embargo shortly, all the pre-contractors are registered fully with The F.A. and none of the unhappy* members leave, What areas do you feel need to be strengthened?

Goalkeepers
Morris

Defenders
Herd
Clohessy
Gilbert
Mohsni

Midfielders
Zaaboub
Grant
Christophe*
O'Keefe*
Soares
Easton
Hall

Attackers
Laurent*
Paterson
Crawford
Spencer
Corr
Sturrock

Personally I would like to see the following...

Goalkeeper x 1
Defender x 4
Midfielder x 1
Forward x 1

This would be my starting line-up v Stockport (As things stand)

Morris

Gilbert Mohsni Clohessy Herd

Soares Grant Easton Hall

Spencer Paterson

Has Moussa gone then?

Sounds like PS wants ALL new blood....

No, we do not need another striker, although we may well need better strikers. That is an issue of quality, not quantity; a subtle but important distinction. It would be hugely irresponsible to take on board a 6th striker (7th if we include Laurent) in our current financial position. This is the type of reckless approach that helped get us in this mess in the first place. We must off-load two more forwards (Laurent and AN other) before we can even contemplate signing another forward.

Maybe Paul Sturrock is considering a 1-2-7 formation?

So taking Moose and O'Keefe out of the equation (as PS is unlikley to play anyone who wants out) plus the rumoured additions of Barker and Simpson on loan. We have a squad of 21 players at the moment, of which 19 are contracted (assuming the embargo is released today/tomorrow)

Time for a photo call....
