The Wire

Starts on BBC2 tonight, doesn't it? I've set our Freeview recorder thingy to record the whole series - although it'll be taking second place to The West Wing, which the missus and I are really into at the moment.

:)

I watched series one of The West Wing and found it quite sickening.

I can't believe that the White House staff (or indeed anyone with politcal ambition) are anything but a bunch of Machiavellian backstabbers focussed on personal gain.

Morning Chaps!

I've noticed that the asian looking bint on the wire is a carpet muncher.
Do we get to see a bit of action between her and the missus, or am i wasting my time?

Thanks

This is the post I agree with

Gutted.

Didn't realise this was coming to the BBC. It's one of those programmes I always liked the look of.

No advertising. No repeats. No iPlayer. And a 5-night per week schedule which means those who didn't inadvertantly stumble over it on Monday night have got no chance of catching up.

Shambles.

I think it's very odd that the BBC are showing this every night rather than once a week. It's as if they want to get it out the way asap.... Their excuse of a complex plot line in rubbish.

Probably so they can show it before the rest of the UK have watched it on DVD.

Really? I'm not parfticularly interested in the programme, and don't have my television on for long nowadays, but I was aware The Wire was starting for some time.

Up to episode 3 in series one and impressed so far. The language reminds me of my office although we don't take recourse to MoFo as often.:)

I picked up a DVD in HMV this weekend for 1p with the first episodes of this, Generation Kill (The Wire teams' next project), Curb your Enthusiasm & Flight of the Conchords on it.

I shall therefore be watching it soon to see how it holds up in comparison...

I'm moist about this, let me know how the first episode is!

EDIT - downloading the first episode

Luckily Sky+ has been recording them for me already although one night I switched the box off before I went to bed not realising it was on every night. I've gone off and D'led about two ahead of BBC as things have gotten really really interesting! The actress who plays the butch female cop looks pretty fit away from the show.

Apart from this thread I didn't even know it was on!
