Seriously though:

A while ago I had to have footage authored onto DVD. We used the mpeg4 codex at the time, but now we use mpeg2.

In the mpeg4 days, I found DVD authoring less reliable than now because it would corrupt.

This may or may not have anything to do with last Saturday's problem, but it may be worth looking into.

Also, there may be two mpeg2 codex now... one for HDV format and one for DVD.
 
From talking to the guys at the production company they thibk it's their faulty DVD re-writer.
