Quote[/b] (fbm @ July 17 2005,02:21)]Out of interest... just what did Kevin Gray do (or not do) that made hime so woeful?
He just wasn't a footballer. His body shape was completely wrong and built more like an American footballer. In the warm up Wayne Gray was showing him how to kick a ball.

Whenever the ball went anywhere near him, even rolled into his feet, he lost it so it was effectively like playing with 10 men. There were some amusing moment to begin with because he clearly wasn't a footballer, but when he tracked someone 30 yards and then hacked him down without getting anywhere near the ball I was slightly concerned that he might seriously hurt someone.

At half time, we asked Spinner who the number 9 was and he told us Kevin Gray (Wayne's cousin) and proceeded to laugh his socks off. I swear he was still laughing by the time we got to the bar.

It's interesting that no-one has mentioned who provided the assist for Freddy's goal...

The ball was laid off for Freddy Eastwood on the left hand edge of the penalty area and he unselfishly passed it to Kevin Gray, who had remained onside and approaching the six yard box... I can only imagine that Kevin Gray panicked at this point and not knowing what to do from there, slid an inch perfect (scuffed

) pass to the unmarked Freddy Eastwood, for a simple tap in...

Rubbish eh?

Sorry... I was just bigging him up!

... but then I realised he already was!

Does anyone else think this was a complete waste of time? Why have a non-footballer triallist play 70 minutes of a friendly? Surely there must be loads of strikers available or out of contract we could have had a look at, even if they aren't Tillys first choice?

My thoughts exactly. By all accounts there are a number of fans who would have performed better than this bloke!

Tilly wasn't having a look at this guy, this guy was doing us a favour.

At this stage of the season you only want your players playing 45 minutes, particularly in this heat.

If Dwayne Gray hadn't had played, Wayne or Freddy would have had to play 90 minutes.

surely could have played that Benson guy who scored in a few reserves game last season then instead or perhaps could have treated a fan to a game especially if this gray played just to help out.

That's an interesting point. Tilly has said in the Echo that he was pleased to have got through with no injuries.

But again, surely there are several triallists we could have looked at...

Nope.

He signed a 2 year deal with the Daggers at the end of May.
