Transfer news
Is there any rumours who would be in for Gus? I've heard nothing so far. I think he'll stay one more season.
There is some interest. Whether that develops I don’t know. I think his preference is to stay as things stand.
I actually think Gus is a strange one in terms of a potential move. He’s not a full back, but if he was going to move up a league and someone wanted a wing back, they’d probably want someone a bit better defensively. On the flip side, if they were playing a more attacking 3 at the back and wanted a right midfielder, they’d probably want someone who’s a proper winger.

Kev has really got the best out of him and he’s carved out this really niche role for himself here where he has more freedom to roam and ghost in with less emphasis on defensive work. That’s what makes Gus so bloody good and I don’t know how likely he is to find that sort of role elsewhere. I would love him to stay and he seems pretty happy and settled which is always a huge plus. But he strikes me as a player who suits a very particular role/system which could narrow down potential suitors.

there was a rumour on here, maybe around 2-3 months ago, that a fee had been agreed and he would be off this summer. It was suggested Barnet as they were pretty much guaranteed promotion back to the EFL and it was closer to home for him (Hemel Hempstead ).
Like I say it was a rumour on here - can’t be bothered to search for it but probably could be found

That’s the most likely kind of move I could see him making. But I’ve still got a feeling he’ll stay put. Next season will be a serious promotion push and if we don’t do it, he’ll be out of contract and given his age, I can see him being desperate to get in the football league at that point and moving on. But I kinda get the feeling he’d rather be in the EFL with us.

Absolutely vital we keep Gus, dont understand the criticism of his defensive abilities, thought he was outstanding on Sunday as he has been all season. Happy with him, Ralph and Taylor at the back but need better than Goodliffe, Crowther and Bridge. A left back like Oldhams with a proper left foot delivery would be good.

I’d love to keep him but have to disagree re. Sunday. Far from his best and he was absolutely knackered at the end. I assume he was being kept on for a possible shootout

If Gus goes Wind will prove to be an adequate replacement. That's my opinion for whatever it is worth.

Dieseruvwe is an enigma - on his day he's unreal, and he's had a really good last couple of seasons... but flipping heck he's had a lot of teams, and I don't think any of them have exactly pulled up trees when relying on him up front.

I expect he's hoping for one last chance in the EFL.

I'd take Reid or Dieseruvwe over Hopper or Bonne all day long. Both are units and both score goals.
Some guy sitting by me on Sunday said we have Hopper & Bonne. Oldham have Garner & Norwood I said yes just to have a experienced goal scorer on the bench like Garner would be good

Here's a name I'll circle back to... Andy Dallas. Know for a fact he had agreed to sign when the Kimura takeover was in the works (Summer 2023) But Barnsley snapped him up and have since sent him on 4 pretty unsuccessful loans. His record in this division is 1 in 2 across spells at Solihull & Chesterfield so proven in this division and is still only 25. Fits the profile and is clearly someone Kev and Co were keen on. 1 year left on his Barnsley deal and well down the pecking order. Whilst I appreciate his goal record over the last 2 seasons isn't great he's been at poor sides and mostly feeding from bench minutes. No brainer this one imo, i'm sure he'll be one of the names on the whiteboard.
