Transfer News, Gossip & Speculation Transfer Thread - Summer 2025 Edition.

Transfer news
Not in a million years are we spending 150k on a player 🤣
I would normally agree but I think the board witnessed the potential we have the weekend and it's maybe given them a jolt, Justin has come out and said we are going to attack next season and he needs to back Kev with funds, I'm hoping we made a decent amount from Wembley and now we finally have some momentum I'm hoping we would! 😉

Not a chance we spend £150k on Pebble….just not going to happen.

However my own opinion is that it would be a sound investment. He’ll be worth much more than that in a few years.

Absolutely support the sustainability approach but agree if there was a realistic chance to secure Bim for150k it has to be worth serious consideration. He certainly ticks the profile and definitely has the potential for a very good return on a future transfer fee, all hypothetical I know in Bim's case but the principle of such a move should not just be dismissed out of hand and I am sure it wouldn't be by COSU they just need to be sure it would be right for the Club in both the short and long term
Transfer policy is going to be tricky. Those under threat of moving on; eg GSM, will stay if they see there is ambition for next season. If COSU don't go strong (and buy say Bim) we could be going in reverse. Then the loss of our top players will keep our targets from signing up if we do not show ambition. As said, it's a tricky one.

Fees are normally paid over a period in instalments? So can be managed within the budget. On a permanent his wage expectations may be a stretch. And he may well want to be in EFL. But age and ability means very realistic possibility of sell on value so in the unlikely event he wants to come and the wage is manageable it would be disappointing if we weren’t keen. But I suspect one or more of the above challenges make it unlikely (but not the fee in itself I would hope).

Think and this dosent affect myself as i live in the Philippines but will affect all you living within the Southend Area a lot will depend on STS as that goes a long way to paying players wages during the off season i do believe, Yes i agree Bim would be a decent signing and im sure if he has a 150k price put on him then many other teams in the EFL will be sniffing around ,I still wonder about that lad from Brentwood and why no mention of him .

Carlisle have probably paid silly money for Linney who at 28 has very little re-sale value. It’s risky, but could be a good signing if he does the business. FGR threw money around last summer though in the hopes of getting back to the league first time of asking and the gamble didn’t pay off. Don’t mind them at all as a club, but still hope Carlisle get battered everywhere they go next season purely because of Mark Hughes’ arrogance in his cup final comments.
They did. I was told by a reliable source yesterday that they paid a six figure fee and that Linney is on 3k per week.

I’m not convinced signing Pebble for £150k is correct way to go. It is still a gamble to pay £150k on player that let’s be honest has had 6 months where he played well. Argument could be he was the best of a bad bunch during season prior to Christmas so looked better. There is no guarantee we would get a return on the player like there isn’t on most players, most are gamble, injuries, doesn’t settle in the area, doesn’t gel to the formation and style of play, and so on, there are many various factors that play into this.

I’m not saying I don’t want us to invest in some EFL players, but personally I think £150k on Bim is a gamble. I’m also not sure he would be the 15-20 goal a season striker that everyone is asking for and let’s be honest every club wants.

We would be better to invest in several players with a sum of £150k. Unless an outlandish target that would have otherwise been unavailable and we can more of less guarantee will be a massive step up in quality but like above always a risk in signing any player as stated above.

For the majority of COSU, that will have been their first experience of Southend at Wembley, and seeing us play at the highest level possible at present. Hopefully it will have given them a bit of an education, and encouraged them to back Kev financially with some quality. I wouldn't baulk at £150k for Bim, but I would at the figure quoted for Linney.
