It's almost not allowed to be said I know but I had a pretty average day today. Nice to play at Wembley, sure. Poor atmosphere, not the result we wanted, lots of armchair fans etc (it's all been said)

Oxford away was a brilliant night out. Bury away earlier in the season was brilliant even though there were only 200 of us. The Orient games were my fina really. A proper local derby, home and away. I'll remember that for years to come. I came back from all of those games loving football. Today...meh.

know how you feel!

Exactly!. Firstly there will no doubt be a 'clear out' next month, and as he's been out of the game for some time, has he got the contacts Sturrock has to get the required new faces in for his first new season?.
In all probability next season will be a transitional one (again).
Happy days!!

I was thinking this. Has Brown god the necessary number of contacts at the lower end of the game and possibly the non-leagues??? Didn't too well at League 1 Preston but I suppose must give the guy a fair go.

helps but scouts are just as good, we got freddy (first spell) and kightly from grays and they are just down the road. We need to scout these lower leagues and a family member of mine made a point, you can watch irish football on tv and it is quality in places, there is no way they can be earning more there than they would here, we just need to look around these small teams with scouts. Or alternatively do a palace and have a really good youth policy and hold on to them, they have done that for years collymore, zaha and many more there are so many options that at least on the surface are obvious and easy to achieve.

I thought the atmosphere was ok and how I expected. The atmosphere will never be the same when you have large numbers of 'non supporters'. However, I was in block 139 with a large group of regulars and we did our best to get things going. Disappointed with the result but proud to be a shrimper. A goal would have made such a difference, ref didn't help us at all and watching it back, 2 pens and the Britt offside goal might have helped.

Person due to bring it was taken seriously ill before today
sorry to hear that, I wish him well. The drum was very badly missed and would have made (IMO) a massive difference, at the very least to the atmosphere in that part of the stadium, and at best everywhere- which may have even helped the team . At least the atmosphere would have been better

I think the 'day-trippers' are getting unfairly blamed here. I wouldn't exactly describe roots hall as a fortress and cacophony of noise and sound. For me, yesterday was just an extrapolation of a home game, pockets of signing where the sound doesn't carry, lots of Discussing at how **** we are and lots of indifference..... To moan at the day trippers and portray our normal home games with 4000 signing in unison is just wrong. The performance was the biggest disappointment - a passionate performance would have helped ignite things in the stands

I kind of wish I hadn't gone. It felt a little like the league had decided to export a game to Disneyland at the same time as a hundred Essex stag parties. Oh, and we were crap, completely outplayed. It may have been better if we'd scored, but we don't, do we. We get to the final and we lose 2-0...always. Let's not get there next year. Nice stadium, I guess.

What a brilliant post that sums it up, never seen so many drunk people before 12pm.

Agree, saw tons of beery, lary, shaven headed, tatooed to the nines football "lad" types before and during the game. Walking up Wembley way it felt more like an 18-30s night out in Marbs....

As it was there were too many little groups singing different songs so we never got going as one. I went to both LDV finals at Cardiff and thought the atmosphere better at both. Real shame.

True. As BBBC was about to come on, I tried to get a 'na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na Barry Barry Corr, Barry Corr, Barry Barry Corr' going and was met with a mixture of bewilderment and pity by the people surrounding me (block 235). Admittedly I find this to be the case in most walks of life, but still.

When BBBC came on some kid said, is that Freddy?! So I started 'Barry! Barry Corr!' And hash tagged #littlechildgetsitwrongagain (didn't really)

.

Totally agree

Orient away was a great away game. Yesterday was all about the being there. I sang the national anthem, and I sang a song abotu Rio Alderton but no-one joined in.

Such a shame, although we did wonder if the acoustics of the stadium projected noise towards the pitch and that was why we seemed so quiet. Apparently not. Saw so many drunken people staggering around wildly along rows, and a few near altercations. Just spoils the day for others.......and with the football we saw, we didn't really need any help to have the day spoilt!

Sorry to hear the drum wasn't able to be brought, wish the person better. I know of two others, a father and son, who were unable to come as they were both struck down with chronic cramping and sickness.
