Question What is making you happy today?

I'm probably being a bit premature here, but I've not encountered a single wasp so far this summer. Normally by the end of July they're up to speed and annoying for fun. I hate the stripey little stingy gits and they serve no useful purpose as far as I'm concerned.

Was at The Hawk yesterday lunch time and there were a few about. One stung a lady on the arm as she was quite innocently stepping over a rope to access a seating area. They went off to sit inside.

We also noticed a wasp colony building a nest in the grating on our block paved driveway back at the beginning of the June and managed to destroy it and them over a few days with a specialist spray.

I too hate the little bastards.

Still buzzing (no link to the above) after getting back to visit Southend yesterday for the first time in close to seven years. Many changes but brought back some great, great memories of the ol' hometown......

(Now, this is linked to the above; if you ever come across a wasp nest where it shouldn't be - no pun intended - pop some Nippon powder around it, especially at the entrance if you can see it - works a treat :Thumbs up:)

According to a Infinite Monkey Cage podcasts wasps are incredibly important in our fragile eco-system. Save the wasp, not squash. :Thumbs up:

I'm afraid the fragile eco-system is going to have to come up short in my contribution to it. Stripey thing=squidge.

Bacon. Mrs RHB reckoned we should feast on scrambled eggs, toast and bacon for breakfast. She had an opened packet which was very close to 'use by date' and rather than throw it she cooked the remaining rashers and jokingly offered me three of them. Well she made the offer, and it would have been very rude to refuse....................Happy bacon mode on a Sunday morning.

My Siberian husky Marley has recently been poorly but after a couple of weeks on medication (and a rather large vet bill to boot) he seems to be getting much better which is pleasing.

I think every wasp in Essex is currently gorging themselves on my lovely sweet juicy apples on my Discovery apple tree. Bastards.

If as, MK says, they are vital to the ecology system, then go and feed on the bloody stuff you should be feeding on and leave my bloody apples alone!

And this is making you happy?
