Question What would make you happy?

I want to see some youth players coming through and winning regular places. Our record in producing youth players over the last 20 years is appalling but it does seem to be slowly changing now. Something else Tilson has to take credit for. A club like Crewe have been doing in for years and there is no reason Southend can't do the same.

I will try hard to share in the optimism on this thread. I, like many others, have lived through some very dark moments in times where media and club/fan transparency was somewhat different to today. I'd like to think we have moved on massively but Mr Taxman knocking at the door and zilch to spend when we have thrown good money at Foran, Ricketts an the like canno be swept under the carpet.

My wishes. No empty promises. Some permanent centre backs. 19th place. Work starting at FF. General acknowledgement that a) Barrett is vastly overrated b) Barney isn't the 15 goal a season striker we need.

I realise that's a lot so I will settle for 19th. Anyone with loftier ambitions than that with the defence we currently possess has their heart on their sleeve. Nothing wrong with that but we'll need to score plenty of goals this season to stay afloat.

Barrett is the most underrated player in the squad. If you'd never seen a Southend game and only read this board you'd think that he'd only ever got a game because he raises his fists a lot at the end of games.

I'm trying to work out the second reason for his selection. I refer the honourable gentlemen to goals conceded over the last couple of seasons. Watch the DVD, count the faults, spot the culprit.

There's no DVD as you well know.

Clarke was responsible for more goals than Barrett was, I reckon.

Some real signs that the financial future of the club is assured would be the best news we could have over coming season.
Finishing in top half of league one again would be another fantastic achievement as its been something to only dream of for many of 40 years I've followed the club.
It would also be nice to see a bit less hysteria on the ShrimperZone which for me is making it more and more missable.
Would be nice to see a few 'I predicted relegation last January and said Tilson should go, so I'm not going to rush into any hasty judgments this season' type posts.

Attractive football and financial stability will do me. We're Southend not Manchester United, so wishing for glory is pointless. Modern football has no room for dreams.

All I want is a team out there wearing the shirt with a bit of pride and winning admirers for the way they play the game. And those lesbians, I'll take them as well.

Both these posts articulate my views perfectly.

I'll be proud if we can achieve another mid table finish, and delighted to see a set of players who look like they want to be here.

Hopefully we can keep the regular 8,000ish crowds, and not hear many boos at our own players.

Playing good football, continuing to back our manager, a top half finish but occasionally flirting with the play-offs and a decent run in one of the three cups. I don't expect promotion and won't be too downhearted if it doesn't come our way.

My hope that we play good attacking football, finish in top half and above Colchester Ewes and Orient, maybe an league cup and FA Cup run which end up getting a match agasint Arsenal, SPurs, Man Utd, Liverpool or Chelsea to get extra cash for the club :) - and a settled back four and a new fast winger on a season loans from a premiership club!

As for my another team, I hope Legia Warsaw can win the Ekstraklasa and Polonia get relagated, they cheated their way up from Liga 1 by paying £5 million to Groclin in 2008 so Polonia who finish 7th in Liga 1 get promoted - just image Southend had a billionaire owner, West Ham are in debts and is close to closing down and no on want them - then Southend pay £150 million to West Ham, so they can take West Ham premiership place and West Ham play in League 1 - now you get the idea!

Marking from free kicks and corners would be nice, Macca, less talk and more action, and maybe Barnard to have an injured free season.

Things that would make me happy:

Getting through the season in a comfortable, top-half position; having made a profit for the year due to a low wage bill, healthy attendances (8000+) and a good cup run.

Seeing the development of some quality young players who break into the first-team throughout the season. Players like Moussa and Herd getting regular first-team football and showing signs of talent.

Some good quality loan players to add some talent and depth to the squad (a left winger would be nice).

Barrett and Francis to form a fantastic centre-back partnership (if Mvoto doesn't come).

Our 4 strikers to all score goals this season, so Tilly can rotate between Barnard and Freedman, and Walker and Revell.

An injury free season. Not asking for much, huh?

I think by now everyone knows we dont have any money for transfers, wages etc. It would make me happy if our current squad stays fit and we carry on with our loanees who will make a difference! Tilson has been here before and he will make me happy.

I would like my previous post on this thread to be struck from the record, put me down as....

What he said.*

*and if the lesbians could be Salma Hayek & Maggie Gyllenhaal that would be great. thanks.

cheryl cole replacing the blue belles would be nice.

A top half finish, a reduction in my season ticket price, a permanent replacement for clarke, and consistency from the front two.

Atrip to man u would be nice to.

And beatin col u 3-0 away from home.

All doable?

This pesky tax bill being sorted.

Progress being made on the new stadium.

Top half finishing, flirting with the play-offs. A decent cup run.

Attractive football by 11 men on the pitch you are fighting for the entire 90 minutes and actually want to play for us.
