Whole squad on furlough - or not!

And some will think it’s something in between- as much as a middle ground is now strictly verboten. As you say people will believe what they want to.

I agree that people’s views on many issues become polarized and entrenched and things aren’t always black on white. However on occasions things can be binary. Right or Wrong, Black or White, Treating people fairly or not fairly.

What other clubs have succesfully furloughed their players? Is this a PFA thing of recommending their members reject furlough?

Colchester furloughed their players, so did Cambridge United. We of course have had to take them off that scheme now so they can take part in the playoffs. I suspect many clubs in league one and two have furloughed all or some of their squads.

Like all things at SUFC nothing is straight forward and it’s not just down to players being greedy or out of touch....The letter of rejection was a PFA worded one for good reason as some things weren’t clear...

By the way we may be playing Bromley and Barnet next year instead of Carlisle and Morecambe...with so many clubs in trouble there is some behind the scenes talk of L2 North and South

So your players didn't refuse the furlough. Fair play to them, and they get everyone's respect.

Maybe its just time for a transference of power. You sign your contract, but you significantly underperform and therefore your contract is/can be terminated by your employer.

Like in all other workplaces...

I'm sure agents will be telling players that they're going to be needed now more than ever.
try telling that to 1’400 of them, when they are let go by the clubs, as they simply cannot afford them. At least 70% of them will never play football league again.

No there wasn't any dispute at all as far as I know, nobody knew they were on furlough until Robbie said they were bringing them back off it to enable them to play in the playoffs. He only mentioned it then to illustrate how much it was going to cost us to take pat in the play off games.

There was also a suggestion to combine leagues one and two and call them league one North and South, which could be interesting for us fans.

Only thing I am a little bit worried about is premiership B, if almost all league one and two club will use their youth players with a couple of senior pros it will give weight to having the B teams as it would be no difference to their u23 league

Yes that is a concern, our chairman (Colchester) is also a big West Ham fan, so we could become Wet Spam B:Stunned:

From what I’ve been told it could be all 3 into 2 leagues of North and South....Which gives you an idea of how many clubs are at risk...I don’t think that is first option but they have realised they need to be ahead of the game in the new and fast changing world....Rather than silly votes 3 months down the line.

We have our training ground shut, as we can’t afford to clean it.... So players can’t have physio let alone train.....I don’t see any point in starting games before fans can return to the stadium.... The ifollow revenue will never cover the cost of the games as players will be back from furlough..... Besides watching half paced friendliest with no crowd is about the same as Japanese porn..... What’s the point?

So the players can't train at Boots & Laces as we can't afford to maintain it. Probably their biggest excersice at the moment is on the golf course. Yes I know they have been given fitness routines etc, but you get my point, hopefully. So all the players know through the Boots & Laces situation that the club is bang in trouble, helped by them. These players should realise that it's not just SUFC that has to survive, but lower League football has to try and survive, as it's in a terrible mess made much worse by the virus. Surely they can do their bit? Loads of clubs players have taken up the furlough. How sad that our bunch say no.

How does the furlough situation work in the real world ie normal jobs.

If employees decide not to be furloughed, does the employer have the right to terminate their employment?

If so, could Ron not just sack anyone who won't be furloughed.

Bloody hell, if you can't afford to clean the training areas that is pretty desperate, how the hell do they intend to survive. I agree apart from anything financial, footy is nothing without the fans, I am sure most players feel the same.
