Wiggys ratings

Quote[/b] (wiggy @ Sep. 12 2006,23:35)]Flavs 6 possibly could have done better with 1st
Hammel 9 much better tonight, good distribution and great corners and goal
Barratt 8 usual commited display, absolute rock.
Clarke 4 poor distribution and not good at heading, can't wait to get Sodje back
Francis 8 quality and strong, just get rid of the odd lapse in concentration
Maher 8 totally in control, having to do the work of two men
Gutts 2 how does he get a game, total liability for about the seventh week on the trot, surely the substitution highlighted to Tilly this bloke is the root of any problems
Gower 7 still moving well on the ball and chipped in with a goal
JCR 4 tonight i have made my mind up, for all his good work rate and ball skills i don't think he is ever gonna make anything happen. Poor crosser of a ball and when he had an ideal chance to slot Paynter through guess what, he stopped went backwards and got caught in possesion, enough said.
Freddy 7 looked much more up for it and a decent goal.
Paynter 6 bit of an improvement but can't jump' can't run and movement into space not good
Harrold 7 straight away done what Paynter didn't, won headers and showed good movement.
Hoops 7 like this boy a lot, got stuck in where Gutts didn't and has good skill and movement
Hunty 7 looked miles better than the bloke he replaced
Flavs 6 got that wrong, couldn't have done better with 1st, was in fact decent stop having been left totally exposed by Clarke. 2nd could have done better when scooping it to the opposition whilst on the ground!

I have seen 4 games this season, and in all 4 Gutts has been poor, which surprises me as I really thought he would be able to make the step up. Definitely time to give Hunt a run out after his performance yesterday.

On the flip side Gower has been a revelation this season so far, as I didn't think he would be able to make the step up.

Yesterday was the first time I've seen Clarke and I'm hoping it was a one off as he was poor. I know you won't get many better strikers in this division than Earnshaw but Clarke really got turned inside out. Earnshaw lost him on many occassions and we were fortunate to keep him down to 2 goals.

JCR is eager and runs around a great deal, but at times very frustrating and reminds you of the kid in the playground at school who would dribble forwards, backwards & sideways.

Francis needs to cut out a lot of his careless errors. Can be a good player but too many silly mistakes.

Maher is Mr Consistency and looks a natural at this level. Very impressed.

Got to agree with Wiggy on the Gutts situation, However where as she just doesnt like Gutts i just think he needs some decent competition for his place.

He hasnt just become a bad player bu last night he looked a bad player, maybe as Flavs improved dramatically when Bart arrived Gutts will do the same when we have someone seriously competing?

Granted Gutts has been a bag of sh!te this season.....however he is very capable at this level his mind is just elsewhere at the moment.

Unfortunately for Gutts, women affect his life too much and its affecting his performances on the pitch.

I just hope he gets his act together soon, if he was on form last night the game would have been ours for the taking.

The trouble is, the three players subbed last night were all poor - and fit in with Her Wiggyness' Ratings.

Clarke for me isn't the answer alongside Barrett - especially with 6'2" John Hartson next up, either Sodje or Prior need to be restored to the line up. Nothing against Clarke (indeed I think he has a lot to give to the team) but we need a bit more height in the back four...

Mike.  If you spout enough sh!te for long enough you're bound to get something right sooner or later.  Lets face it I'm still glorying in my one correct opinion in 35+ years since I started at the Hall.  Graeme Jones.

As for this place being not a nice place, FFS it's only a forum.  Once again if you spout with the venom some people do then they've got to expect a pop back on occasions.  People who use terms like pathetic & gutless when referring to our own players get what they deserve in my opinion.

But this place is nowehere near as good as it used to be as it's predictable, this month's is that waggy will post something & you'll immediately post hear hear, like some befuddled old half ****ed MP in the Commons and so the routine will go in in that thread.  This used to be a forum where you could discuss opinions on the games, now we get people who just week in week out state fact after fact, and it's usually the same fact.

You set up this forum, so you'll know like me how many people there are out there who are die hard Shrimpers, used to post regularly on here with sensible, well constructed opinions & arguments but now can't be arsed.  And do you think the forum is better for that?  They're bored by the endless diatribes.  I too try to post on here less and less, but sometimes it doesn't work like that!

Even I post less and less on here. The Pub's the place to be!

Well said that man. I agree that Gutts is woefully out of form at the moment (I gave him a 2 in my match ratings), but I disagree that he was a bad player to start with - which is, apparently, wiggy's view.

I'd like to see Jay Smith given a go, although since he's not even on the bench, I wonder how likely that is to happen...
