Hi Guys.
I was born in Southend, but have spent much of my time in Yeovil (now abroad) and the majority of my family still live in Southend/Westcliff/Leigh on Sea etc and are SUFC season ticket holders.
Yeovil fans are extremely supportive of you, because thats the way both sets of our fans always are and we dont want to see you go into administration and the 10 point deduction, and perhaps relegation.
Below is an extract from a reliable paper, which if anything I hope will make you chuckle.
Southend United are facing the prospect of going into administration - but could their problems have been avoided if they had not overspent on trousers?
Two of my colleagues visited Roots Hall for the recent Southend Vs Bristol Rovers match - only to be refused entry to the press box because the trousers they were wearing were deemed to contravene the dress code.
But rather than being sent into Southend town centre to purchase new slacks, the reporting duo were ushered into an office where they were presented with a row of trousers of all different sizes.
It seems breaches of code are so common in the Roots Hall press box that, rather than change their draconian rule on clothing they have simply stockpiled trousers that are deemed acceptable.
The fact the reporters were made to drop their jeans and put on replacement trousers in full view of many people, including women, is not even the point.
And while Southend's debts of £660,000 do not amount purely to cash they have frittered away on gentlemen's formal wear, it does make you wonder where else they could have saved the pennies.
