Unbelievable. What a kick in the nuts. How do we only get a 50% refund for a match that officially didn't take place. I paid for a full match of football, they did not fulfill that obligation, therefore I'm surely entitled to a replacement or a full refund, not a half arsed offer of the chance to give them more money to reward them for their own negligence.

So out of their own negligenece, they will be rewarded with a second chance at a game they looked nailed on to lose and for further financial gain. How can this be allowed?

I reckon everyone should just boycott the re-arranged fixture out of principle.

I was about to say the same thing. I hope to god no blues fans attend this game.

Really!? I'm hoping for exactly the opposite, that at least some of our fans won't be cutting their noses off to spite their face in order to send a poorly conceived message, especially when our terms and conditions are not a lot better. Having no fans there to support our team can only harm our chances. Aldershot seem to have screwed us over already. Why should we encourage our fans to let them do it to us a second time?

It's the same for me on this issue as it should be on the terraces: support your club first, send messages to other clubs second.

Besides, the problems with ticket refunds and match abandonment policy lays firmly at the door of the football league, not the clubs. The football league sets the principles and standards.

Nope. Our charter is slightly better in that the club will offer a 50% refund OR 50% off the re-arranged ticket price. Aldershot don't have that in their charter.

My mistake ,

Aldershot actually do not have any provision for a refund in their charter , whether its a full refund for a postponement or a partial refund for an abandonment.

Perhaps the Club should check the Charters of all the clubs we play and retain the ticket money on those who will not give a refund until after the game has been completed.

Notification to the football league and all the clubs concerned in the form of a letter explaining that due to recent circumstances where SUFC fans have been seriously inconvenience both personally and financial by abandonments the Club feel it is pertinent to withhold the proceeds of any advance ticket sales until after the conclusion of the match, in all instances where the home teams Charter does not contain a provision for refunds in cases of postponement or Abandonment.

Obviously this will not protect those on who pay on the day , but it would be a start

i have just had a gander at Aldershot Ticketing Information and as i have read on here that those people paid on the gates where given a previous game ticket for our boxing day clash so that makes a mockery of the following rule

ALL SPECTATORS MUST BE IN POSSESSION OF A VALID MATCH TICKET, IF CHALLENGED WHILST IN THE EBB STADIUM. FAILURE TO PRODUCE A VALID TICKET WILL RESULT IN EJECTION FROM THE EBB STADIUM.

I can see your point mate. But, I'm sure the players would back such actions from the fans.

At least our charter allows any fan entering Roots Hall the option of clawing back 50% of the ticket money, if the game were to be abandoned.

There will probably be a few hundred who will not be able to make the return fixture now, due to work commitments etc. So they have had a real kick in the nuts. And those that can make the return fixture have to pay another 50% again on top of what they already paid. Plus of course the travel and food/drink costs etc. Disgusting if you ask me and I think our fans should send a message to Aldershot that this is not on. The only way to do that, is by not giving them anymore money. An abusive email will get no reaction at all. Our fans, along with Aldershots have been hit in the pocket. The club themselves should also get a taste of their own medicine.

I wonder if any Shots fans would also consider a boycott?

The only correct thing for them to do is offer a FULL refund to those that cannot, or do not wish to go to the replay...the floodlight problem was known before kick-off..I do not see they have a leg to stand on legally.

But as they are offering half price for the re-arranged game that means that Heather Mills will be able to get in for free.

Is there anything on the ticket which indicates that by purchasing the ticket you agree to the terms and conditions of sale and these are explained in the charter on the website ?

pretty poor show from Aldershot. I usually admire clubs that have gone bust and then claw themselves back up but this is pretty third rate. I think SUFC should be pressing the League for a full independent review of the electrics at the ground and insist we will not play until this review gives the sums up. Aldershot of course will have to pay for the repairs. Let's hope it needs a complete rewire or even better a completely new system. Sorry a bit vindicative but they asked for it.

IMO this is something The Shrimpers Trust should get on to straight away on behalf of the fans.

CP has also posted a link on Twitter for those that are on there.

Blues fans - follow @The_FSF and they can take up the Aldershot issue on behalf of everyone.Let them know your views too.

Sadly, I wouldn't imagine anyone would get anywhere by taking legal action. The fact that no-one looked at the charter before buying the ticket isn't Aldershot's fault. They are the T&C's they operate and if you don't agree with them, don't buy a ticket.

As we've only played them a handful of times in the last 25 or so years the lack of goodwill against some travelling fans isn't going to bother them too much.

Unfortunately, the fact that there were problems known before the match also doesn't hold much sway in my opinion. If they didn't play the match because the floodlights might not be working properly, they'd have thousands of angry fans on their doorstep moaning that they didn't even try to play the game. It's a no-win for them really.

Please note I'm not defending Aldershot, just putting an impartial view as to why disgruntled SUFC supporters may be wasting their time trying to get their money back.

Aldershot do not offer refunds in any circumstances , home or away fans and are fairly blunt about it in their charter

"Supporters are not entitled to return tickets for a refund"

I have written to aldershot fc but wish to make a complaint to the football league aswell. The tickets were mis sold on the day. Does anyone have contact details for the football league for making a complaint ?

As if people are talking about legal action over £9 :hilarious: what has this world come too

It is not the money at all, it is the principle. If everybody just sat down and ignored injustice in life we would be in an even worse state than the country is now.

Abeit you gave me my ticket for zilch it does not alter my anger for others.

I think the thing that really ****es me off about all this is that it was not a situation outside Aldershot's control. It was very much inside their control. They knew the lights were dodgy. What did they do about it? Did their "electrician" they were looking for at half time have any qualifications. Did they do a full check of the system prior to he game. It's not rocket science.

SUFC Policy is the same as the Football League policy. Maybe a quite word with the Football League will increase the fine that should surely be on their way. Admission of guilt by saying that there was trouble BEFORE the kick off should hopefully strengthen our case. Aldershot deserve a fine as large as possible. They are making Geoffrey King look like a Customer Service Specialist. Also no terms were on the Aldershot web site prior to the floodlight problem. How were we supposed to know of their terms and conditions if they were not even big enough to publish them on their own web site.

P**s ups and Breweries come to mind.

Will I be able to attend the replayed game? NO I work during the week so a Tuesday night is a no no. Many thanks for ensuring that I never go to Aldershot again and hope they are relegated very soon.

My understanding is that SUFC are trying to have that so called ruling changed so that at least some of the ticket price is refunded. At least our club are trying to make them see sense.
