Ron provides another managerial update

Just seen an article on the Athletic saying Larsson is part of a consortium looking to buy Wycombe, including names like Ronald Koeman, Dennis Bergkamp and Dirk Kuyt

Surely if he’s our next manager this wouldn’t be the case?
Wycombe turned them down in the summer.

So I suspect them moving onto another of their 'League One club near London' targets could be exactly why we are talking to Larsson, and puts a clear reason behind what seemed a random candidate for so long.

I thought Wycombe were being taken over by an American, Rob Couhig, as major shareholder.

Ah that may explain why Ron flew to Sweden to meet the ‘Backroom’ team...maybe ‘Backers’ could be more likely??

At last, an interesting rumour about our future. I doubt that Ron would wish to sell at the moment if he really believes that Fossetts Farm is getting close. On the other hand I do believe that he has become a genuine fan and he is probably as hacked off as most of the rest of us with the attitude of many of our players and thinks he might as well cash out now rather than hang on for the future bonanza that never seems to come...

That leads me on to wonder how I would feel if my team was taken along a similar path to Bournemouth. Would I want to support a team I didn't recognise in a Premiership I dislike intensely in a spanking new stadium without the tradition of Roots Hall..... on balance I guess I would, it's been my team for over sixty years but I could envisage the dream of success turn into a nightmare.....

I need to get more sleep.

If this is true with Larsson its starting to make sense this long courtship. Plus Ron flying over to Sweden, hopefully he was trying to put backers into place. We are very close to London have good transport links, so suitable too the Nordic country's. We are in the 3rd tier, and a new ground is on the horizon. Well it has been for years. It will be seen from the outside as a club that could grow into a Championship club in a few years. Then who knows.
Just a bit of blah blah from Ron regards the finances.
The backers want a star name to court the publicity Or am I dreaming.

Read the same article this morning and definitely adds some weight to why Larsson has been courted. Would be interesting and we could certainly use some financial support but i guess the question is whether Ron would sell...

I wonder if Koeman, Bergkamp and Kuyt were the money men behind Dutch Fries?

You seriously think if Barrett was our manager, and a bigger job came along, he would turn it down!!!!

After the last 2 managers, I can understand why Ron is taking his time,

Surely barretts ambitions would be to get us back into the championship one day. Whereas if any team came in for sol or larsson they'd be off in a flash

I had the idea of Larsson as an investor floated to me a week back. Usually I would think it far-fetched but maybe Ron has become less stubborn and pigheaded in his older age and admitted that he needs more financial help, perhaps by selling a stake and saying “you concentrate on and invest in the football side, and I’ll give all my attention to the new stadium”. It would certainly explain the odd appearance of Larsson in the candidate list, Ron’s flight to the Continent and the long time it’s taking to appoint a new manager. Still not sure I can see Ron selling majority control though, which is what this “star-studded consortium” appears to be seeking.

They would be off in a flash on ANY job, think that's a bit of an exaggeration!!

Regarding Norwich and Tilson, I think it's been mentioned a number of times that he regrets not taking the chance, so you really think Barrett would turn down something similar.

a no nonsense and pragmatic approach to this game ...

no fancy bollox

once we had the goal everyone played the percentages - no-one got stupid.

all the subs all worked out really well -

fans were fab -

3 points - still only 14 points off the play offs - we can do it !

Is Larson fronting a Swedish syndicate to buy out RM ?

(we don't want a big shot dilletante who fancies having a go at management )
