Ron provides another managerial update

Just to add to the Dutch takeover theory. A good time to sell a development is when you have just got Planning permission. Saves you the gamble of borrowing £400m for the actual build and then hoping to make a profit several years down the line. Especially during theses uncertain political and financial times.

Heard from reliable source that Ron was supposed to meet the players yesterday but didn't and the rumour circulating amongst the players is that it is Campbell. I'm not sure that there can be any real inside info from the players perspective as I'd expect that if Campbell was in line that people would know and he wouldn't be 20/1 with the bookies.

The starting price would be what £17M to cover the supposed "debt" owed to RM ? Then ongoing losses, they will need very deep pockets. Who would own Roots Hall ? Is Ron happy to walk away with £17M and forget the new stadium ? At his age I certainly would be, i'd be laying on a beach somewhere.

Jesus 20/1 for Neil Campbell as manager, that's stupid odds, would have thought Patrick Campbell would have been better odds (Those of a younger generation, please look up Call my Bluff)

RH is now worth a lot more than £17m because it has planning permission for 500 homes. When FF is passed (in whatever form) that will be worth even more than RH.......You don't have to have deep pockets just a good business plan

i wonder if Ron is looking to sell the football club and a possible new ground but keep Roots Hall and the rest of Fossets Farm for the proposed developments. Thus he still makes his money and passes the traumas of running a sinking ship onto someone else.

We hire Waddock and he'll be sacked before Christmas and then it won't just be about our Lg1 survival (which we all but a formality) but our survival in the professional leagues. I'd rather Ricky Duncan took over.

We are already in trouble who ever gets the job

Wasn't it so kind of RM to buy it off the club for circa £4m to clear our debts when MD first came on the scene?

If you remember the idea was that Sainsbury's were going to build a supermarket on RH.......Thats why nobody else bought the club.

Years of being f***** around by Sainsbury's and a council that clearly have a conflict of interest. Meant Ron and us fans never got our stadium and the debts mounted because us fan want Championship football.

If Ron had said the plan is to be a mid table L2 club until we have a stadium so as not to risk any debts there would have been howls of protest and ugly scenes outside Ron Towers in Benfleet.....

We are where we are because its what everyone not only wanted but demanded. Yet at the same time cant be bothered to put any pressure on the Council to achieve it........Rather like our team at the moment its much easier to point at someone else and blame them.

1/ He's a businessman, what's the problem ?
2/ How many other people were lining up with serious offers to buy it ?
3/ It was a very long time ago, haven't you noticed how land & property prices have multiplied since he took over ?

I'm far from his biggest fan, don't like him at all, don't like his business practices, but without him we would most likely have gone under a long time ago.

Now where's that huge line of people waving money at us wanting to take over ?

I saw on Twitter that Matt Slater of the Athletic (and a Shrimper) said the consortium aren't interested in Southend as they're looking for a less complicated fix up.

Oh gawd, please, no! Certain people thought Phil Brown had a huge ego, I think this appointment might well convince them otherwise!
