Ron speaks- appointment expected this week.

Doubt we will appoint tomorrow. My guess: first choice has turned RM down. Second choice no longer so appealing. Third choice playing hard ball just like the first. Bottom line is the embargo. Lots of up and coming managers haven't got the balls Sturrock had to take it on. Too risky for their burgeoning reputations.

That's fair enough.

From what I understand ..... Fagan original no 2 choice was one of the current senior players . The chairman felt their combined experience wasn't enough and looked for other options
Fagan then has tried to get Calderwood on board to get him over the line while Ron is considering other options . Obviously Fagan is the cheaper more viable choice if it can be made to work with a viable experienced package
Calderwood I don't think would be a full term permanent thing as he would be too dear as a no 2 and also as a no 1
Hence all the pondering
In the meantime a left field appointment like Molesley could happen
If this is true and I was hiring for the job it would make me think twice about Fagan. Someone going for the role with his experience should know they need an assistant with a track record and be confident enough that a more experienced assistant wouldn't make him feel at risk of being undermined.

I was, mainly because I knew Bond was coming in and I put two and two together. That was just my opinion though. This is not my opinion, it's fact.
Lol, not really mate, you said Harry was coming as manager, didn’t even mention Bond at the time. Yet you claim your source is right now cos you got the Bond call right before?

If Molesley does get the job, great, but you only popped up when he’s odds on favourite! I doubt your inside knowledge, sorry!

I hope you are right but given Molesley's record at a club with fewer resources than we have I would have thought he would have set his sights higher than managing us, or, might have been head hunted for by one of many clubs desperate to unearth a successful manager.
He is relatively inexperienced and I doubt if he can demand too high a salary but I suspect he would cost a great deal more than Fagan. After we have paid him will we be able to pay our players and take care of the tax man?
If he is appointed I would take it as a sign that our financial situation might not be as hopeless as many of us think it is!

If Southend appoint Mark Molesley - and he looks impressive in the video interviews I have reviewed - the Chairman will have to pay compensation to Weymouth (and perhaps Bournemouth?). That compensation presumably will not be cheap. I agree with Bluesfansince1952. This appointment looks like a more expensive package than the combination of Craig Fagan and Calderwood, and seems a bit extravagant given the fact that the club has been under a transfer embargo for eight months.

I mentioned Bond before anybody else, then got told to delete it so I did.

I am not even slightly worried either way whether you believe me or not, it's all good ?

Had it confirmed, Molesley is our new manager.
Hopefully, managed to get him at 8/1.

I posted a podcast with him on Friday into one of these threads. If he’s appointed then it probably deserves its own thread but I was very impressed with how he spoke and what he was looking for in Managing a side and creating success. I know it’s cliche but the attention to detail really reminded me of Eddie Howe
