Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 0-0 Wrexham

I want to know how the guy got on the South Stand roof

Yeah, he started off at the top, then came down right to the front. Could have been really dangerous - not just the thought of him falling, but also of the roof not being strong enough to take his weight. I know he was gestured to go back, but didn't see where he went. I did wonder if he'd climbed the floodlight structure.

I'm not even going to talk in detail about the officiating because there is zero point in trying to decipher how these decisions happen. As a whole, they are terrible in this league and it will be like that for the duration of our stay here. We need to accept it.

I'm happier talking about a brilliant performance. We were great across the whole team today. We pressed from the first minute (take note Wes) and we looked so solid. Ralph is so good, even 70 percent fit. Truly quality at this level.

There are a few on here talking about Wreh starting the next game, I don't agree with this. He was allowed to come on and look good because of the hard work the front two did today. They worked tirelessly and wore down the Wrexham defense. It was such a breath of fresh air to see two strikers that could play with their back to goal and actually hold the ball up. It's not a disservice to Wreh, what a weapon to have on the bench, him and Powell to run at tired legs.

Boy have we missed Husin! Again, how fit is he? It doesn't matter. He is still so much better than Wes in that role. Think how good we will look with Taylor in there too!

We were brilliant across the the pitch today and I really feel a thumping will be inflicted on a team soon.

UTB!

You can hear the conversation now,

REF: “Listen Lino I have got a starring role in that Disney thing if I allow that goal I will be edited out”
LINO: “you reckon you can get me a role”?
REF: “say it was offside and I will put in a word for you “
LINO: “now you mention it I think someone in blue was offside “

I don't think I said they didn't observe the minute's silence, they did impeccably, I was referring to those that attempted to interrupt the National anthem.
Those that did couldn’t really be heard so was just saying, considering the chants sung at them, I can’t see why anyone would pop onto their forum. They certainly didn’t bother me. Think I’m agreeing with you on that point.

Did anyone see if Hyde celebrated his ‘goal’? I couldn’t see due to the arms in the air around me. In fact I’ve personally not punched the air that much in ages.

It was pretty obvious that some of the Wrexham supporters were going to disregard or interrupt the National Anthem. In the event, it didn't matter as the Southend crowd and the majority of the Wrexham supporters sang the National Anthem loud and proud or just stayed quiet, their choice.

To start lobbing abuse now at their Fans Board would just be coming down to the level of their fans that were gobby. Time to move on in the knowledge the Southend fans did their bit incredibly well.

That's weird. The ground was silent throughout the anthem?

We didn't hear a thing.

What was the game a few years back when we had a goal disallowed after the opposition intimidated the official into changing his decision?

Anyway that’s the thing with this reality TV show Wrexham are now doing, we went off script and a quick call to the producers and the goal was chalked off.

Thought Noor was superb and a really good team performance.

He did celebrate with a salute to the crowd , having looked back at the footage I stand corrected as Hyde was onside - their CB closest to Dackers has his hands up as soon as he touches the ball , I think the combo of potential offside and handball caved the poor Lino into giving it

Handball? Possibly.

Offside? Absolutely ****ing not.

Lino and Ref have completely caved in to Wrexham players protests.

Excellent all over the pitch from start to finish and a well earned 3 points .... cruelly taken away by yet more inconsistent national league officiating.

After Tuesday's shambolic defending and dissapointing result, Kev Mayer deserves a lot of credit for getting into the players, changing the selection and tactics against one of the best sides in this league.

Ndi 8 - his best game in a Southend shirt. At last showed maturity, making good decisions, though I'm sure has more confidence with a leader like Lopata in front of him. Made an excellent stop from a second half effort and dealt with the long throws really well, claiming everything in the air. Well done young man!

GSM 7 - didn't get forward as much as we'd like but put in a solid defensive display. Came close with a header from another corner.

Ralph 7 - like GSM, Solid at the back and supported forward where possible. Better balance than Cliffy and good to have him back.

Kensdale 7 - dealt with the Wrexham front men well and tried to get the ball forward quickly also. Lost possession a couple of times but solid where required.

Hobson 8 - put blocks in and so comfortable on the ball driving forward. Another solid defensive display.

Lopata 9 - MOTM.
Calm, composed, commanding, class. Won everything in the air at the back and lead the line superbly, showing all his leadership qualities. Outstanding defensive performance.

Husin 8 - first game of the season and ran his socks off. Carried the ball into dangerous spaces and wasn't afraid to put his foot in. Welcome back!

Miley 7 - got some important interceptions in and stayed calm. A typical Miley display.

Mooney 7 - another player who ran his socks off. Unlucky not to score in the first half and was a constant threat on the ball with his driving runs in and around the hole. Held on to the ball too long sometimes and could produce better final third balls, but will improve as the season goes on.

Hyde 8 - excellent today and clearly up for it against his parent club. Took his goal well which sadly got taken away, but put in a very good physical performance up front, linking the play up with others.

Dackers 7 - again, with Hyde, played in a system that suited us better. Should have scored twice from headers and needs to use his size more to more advatage. Put a shift in though and pulled the Wrexham defence around with his runs.

Official watch - seriously?? This league seems to find even worse officials on a weekly basis! Never seen Kev so angry on the touchline!!
