New ground update?

In the end what this stadium ends up looking like, particularly in respect to the 4th side, will now depend on the new owner. I’m sure we will hold them accountable. Deep pockets required to meet our expectations..
Just as we’ve kept rm accountable 😂

Apologies if this has been discussed a few times but apart from a couple of conference rooms and cafe - how will SUFC make money away from the football match days at the new ground?
Been asking that so many times. Match day revenue I think and conference centre ? Music concerts? We were promised a breakdown of this form tl but it’s never appeared

Those commenting on the size , we need to remember that the stadium will be here for decades, not just the next few years.

Re concerts, the club has said before that we would NOT get permission for concerts because of the proximity of the housing development

It’s all very depressing

looking at that i would rather have RH given a massive facelift, The sooner the club is sold the better. Let the new owners have a say in how the new stadium should look. I can just hear the protests from the residents of those houses etc complaining off the noise off a night during the midweek matches now or the vandalism to there property from visiting supporters, our supporters wouldnt vandalise im sure (said tongue in cheek ).

Sorry i would rather just a stadium at FF with shops ,cinema, hotel ,even a casino if it bought money in for the club and has rules of dress code etc that are strictly enforced. But that photo of what the new proposal for the stadium looks like does not have SUFC at heart , just RMs pot of gold, it looks ugly cheap and as been said just another suburb with a football ground stuck in as a second thought. Also if under new owners we climb the leagues as a new owner will want ,especially if its an American with deep pockets in years to come even 16000 capacity wont be big enough to comfortably seat the supporters Also smaller the stadium ,more pricey the season tickets etc will be should we climb the leagues .

What does validation mean and how does that progress to planning permission?
There are certain things required for a planning application to be “valid” and so accepted by the Council - the correct application form (correctly filled out), a land ownership certificate (served on all land owners), the correct fee (which for a large application is very complicated to calculate) and some plans and supporting information.

When an application is sent to the local planning authority it is somebody’s job to check that it is all present and correct, only after that is it validated and accepted by the Council and then put into the next bit of the process which is the consultation process - both a public consultation exercise (for a minimum of 21 days IIRC) and statutory consultees (such as highways, water authority etc.).

Validation is good because it’s past the first hurdle, but the analogy is about a 110m hurdle race and there are plenty more to jump over!

Is the thought here that Ron got the tenders back, and the price is higher than budget so the project shrinks again?

Ok I'm going to say it. I don't want the new stadium as is currently planned.

A housing estate as the main stand is a load of old nonsense.

Ron can't go quickly enough and take your new stadium sell out plans with you!

Edit: yes I do realise it’s this or the end of the club so I’ll just have to shut up and accept this is our new ground. Ron’s done an absolute number on the club I love. These new plans are nothing short of a property developers cash grab.

Hugely disappointing to see the design keeps shrinking.

16k is definitely fine for this division and leagues 1 and 2. Maybe even the championship, but when we are trying to win the Premier and champions league, it's going to be tough to get a ticket.

On a serious note. I do feel very uncomfortable with initial capacity being less than roots hall.

Although roots hall has a bigger capacity I’m not sure 1/4 of roots hall is even allowed to be used and that % should arguably be higher.

It's worth noting that the last time an attendance at Roots Hall exceeded the initial capacity proposed at Fossetts Farm was January 2009 for the FA Cup replay against Chelsea (11,314). Even the Sunderland game on the last day of the 2018/19 season was marginally lower (10,779) than the 10,944 proposed.

The capacity quoted at Roots Hall isn’t valid anymore.

Our official capacity has been reduced as parts of Roots Hall have been closed down.

The initial capacity at FF is probably more than what is currently useable at Roots Hall.

IF work started in the summer, and it took took seasons for us to complete and move in, and we got back-to-back promotions, we’d be in League One and that capacity would still be fine for that level. Two huge IFs obviously.
