Quote[/b] (chrisguthrie @ Aug. 28 2006,09:30)]April 22nd 1961 V's Coventry, was taken by my father who had deemed I was then old enough to join him on the terraces! I was 5, I think we won.
Yes, 4-1 according to Robin's Database.

Absolutely no idea , too long ago and I was too young to remember. It was probably about time Roots Hall opened as we only lived along Fairfax at the time, trouble is Dad is dead so I can't ask him.

Thanks for that AD, another memory of my childhood is of my dad coming home from the pub (Rayleigh Lodge) when he would tell me of caning Mel Slack and Derek Woodley at darts!

First game Southend vs Luton town 1992-1993?

Last game of the season. Blues needing to win and others needing to lose. Stan collymores last game. The result 2-1? ( a little hazy) The ground went deathly quiet until the news came through that we had done it. Que delerium in the north bank and mass exodus on the pitch . I jumped on spencer priors back and he ran half the pitch we me stuck like a piece of velcro.

Monday 20/8/62
Division 3
v Reading won 2-0 scorers Beesley & Woodley
Att 8381

I had been badgering my Grandad to take me for ages, a die hard Shrimper from that day on.

It was an odd thing that we finished 8th that season, we did not attain a higher position until 1991 when Webby took us into the promised land of Division 2.

Home v Reading (W 5-0, 20/2/1984).

Bobby Moore's first game as temp manager after the sacking of Peter Morris. Shame that scoreline wasn't reproduced on a more regular basis but that done it for me.....I was hooked for life.

Fri 17th Dec 1982 V Cardiff City, Div 3.

PS Crown's goal still remains the best Southend goal I have ever seen

Fri 26-Mar 1965 Port Vale home D3 score 2-1 Scorers McKinven King Attendance 6,017. Only seven at the time, vaguley remeber John Mckinven, flying left winger breaking his leg around this era.

I'm not 100% convinced that this was my first game, but its the first one I specifically remember.
