When I was 12, I was more interested in my ZX Spectrum, and kicking around a football rather than trying to get my end away with girls.

Absolute shame that kids seem to go from kids to young adults without the fun bit in the middle. I think kids get confused messages - crappy sex education in schools where the teachers would rather be elsewhere and then the media assaults kids with images of sex at every opportunity - just looking at music videos these days is like watching soft porn.

I live around a corner from a Christian Centre and they have a young mums and babies thing, and I often see groups of 20+ girls, no older than 18, hanging around with pushchairs, the vast majority of them puffing away on Malboro Lights.

Of course it's not every teenager, hopefully most of them have got their heads screwed on - but we hold the dubious honour of having the highest teenage pregnany rate in Western Europe and something needs to be addressed.

I couldnt believe it when I was reading this story earlier. I just think it sums up the way this country is nowadays-children bringing up children!! The only person who will lose out of this is the child as although he reckons he will be a good caring dad he obviously, which is understandable, doesnt understand the time effort and money involved in raising a child.

I am surprised that no one has picked up on the 14/15 year old girl going out with a 12/13 year old boy.
girls of 14/15 were always sniffing round the older boys when I was at school.

She would have been 4th year (in old money is that year 10 these days ?) when she got up the stick, and he would have been 2nd year at best !!

In the picture of them together she could be his mum !!!

Now, technically he could be could be charged with having sex with someone underage and she could be charged with Statutory rape

Her parents live in a rented council house, living off benefits along with her 5 sibblings.

His parents were seperated, living on an 'estate', his mum on benefits, and his father having also fathered 8 other children.

Now, i dont like to pigeon hole people, but where else were they going to both end up other than spawning the next society of spongers. Also, the lad was going to have to start young to beat his dads record.

All in all, this highlights all the arguements in favour of steralization for certain people!

I know this stuff happens all the time in the 'Real World' and the 'good' people at the Sun love to publicise these kind of stories. But on the face of it what hope does that kid have? The next generation of spongers to go along with the current lot to keep the wonderful 'shameless' cycle going!

On a different note, fair play to the little guy. 4 ft munchkin that bags himself a normal sized older woman......stuff we could only dream of at 13!!

Think his Dad should have told him the delights of Bukkake earlier and he wouldnt be in this mess!

Especially for people that can't spell arguments and sterilisation!

On a serious note. People are indeed a product of their upbringing. We can blame the lack of sex education in schools for a lot of this, but surely the best education these kids could have is from a decent role model at home. There's only so much a school can do without being undermined once a child gets home.

All that said, I can't actually access certain newspapers from work, so my view so far is based on the evidence posted earlier in this thread.

Wee Alfie doesn’t look more than seven, and it’s obvious he won’t be much of a father NOW. It’s unlikely that he will grow up to become a candidate for parent of the year, or indeed have much to do with the child (the baby I mean, not the little squit), but you never know, he just might. Fathering a child at a young age doesn’t automatically qualify you for chav scum membership – are teenage fumblings confined to the underclass? In common with MK Shrimper, I wasn’t really that interested at 12, but from 14 onwards, all I wanted was sex, and lots of it.

Sadly for me and the female population of Southend-on-sea, I didn’t really get much. In fact, nothing at all until I was 16. The lady in question was on the pill, and showed me the packet to prove her point. For me, that was good enough, and I risked the awful world of STDs by losing my cherry bareback style.

As a result of this, or possibly the sequel a couple of nights later, I am now the father of a young lady who will be turning 20 in June. My daughter’s mother did a quick bunk two days after her first Christmas, but with massive support from my parents, I have succeeded in raising a well-adjusted and sensible young woman who is now in her second year of university.

I realise this sounds like me telling you all how great I am, but that’s not my intention. I think I’ve done OK, but I’m blessed to have a strong family unit and a daughter with a lot more sense than her old man. I’ve taken her to live in different countries, introduced some fairly questionable women into our lives, but she’s survived it all.

The point I’m really trying to make is that young parents can be good parents, and they’re not all scumbags. Of course I would have preferred to finish school and university before she was born, but that wasn’t the hand I was dealt with. If families stand together and support one another, and at least one of the parents takes some responsibility, anything’s possible.

Yes immediately, as did my daughter when I just showed her the story. The lad looks as if he should still be at Junior school, and as Firestorm says, the girl has to be completely in the wrong here for having had sex - unprotected at that - with a boy 2 to 3 years younger than her, barely out of the "short trousers" stage. It's pretty nauseating actually. You have to look to the supposed role models in all of this though, hardly a glowing tribute to parenthood themselves are they?
