Anyone got the heating on yet??

U can’t have the heating on ,I pay monthly ,it just cost me £260
A lot of it depends on where you live, more rooms means more heating needed to keep warm (assuming you keep the whole house warm).

Our gas last month came to £142 but we live in a 2 bed flat so (assuming you're in a house) we're going to pay less than you because there's less to heat. We've got single glazed windows as well so someone in a flat with double glazing will be paying even less than that unless they blast the heating up higher than needed.

I posted as Mrs MG stated last night was a bit fresh.

Incidentally my energy company now owes me over £500.

Similar MG, I'm currently £457.30 in credit and they are due to lift another £247 on 1st June. It will be interesting to see whether monthly payments are reduced.

Yes, and with prices due to drop slightly, and weather/summer usage dropping the credit amount will get bigger.
Are you going to request refund?

Probably. I'd prefer to have a cushion, even going into the summer months, so maybe a part repayment.

Doing it the wrong way round. You should start end of August with a balance on your account close to 0.00. Then as the winter months draw in your debt increases and then when the warmer weather arrives it reduces back down to 0.00.

Energy companies hate this and always adjust DDs in the winter months based on your usage then knowing that your using more. The adjusted DD then continues resulting in large monies in their accounts.

True, better money in my pocket than theirs.
Next job for me is to cut back as much as I can on my monthly direct debit.

My friends mum in work has a 2 bed terraced house. They were being charged £400 a month from November until she mentioned it to my friend last week. When he checked she had £950 as a balance that had built up just since November. She already had a balance of around £300 when her DD was changed in November.

No, but I still have my winter duvet on which is unheard of for this time of year!
Returned today from 2 weeks at Clearwater Beach Florida to a horrible chilly day, after last 14 days in temps between 32*- 35*.
After basically wearing a vest, shorts & sandals for 2 weeks, now typing this wearing a sweatshirt, tracksuit bottoms & thick socks, total madness!!!.
