Recap,

Phil is a lifelong Sunderland fan.
He could earn plenty there.
Big stadium with 44,000 packed inside.
Good mates with Sam.

Hmmmm.

Hmmmm.

Recap.

Phil loves Southend and is now a big fan.
Phil is not driven by money alone.
A job in a big stadium as no.2, or a job in a little stadium as No.1.
Phil has many good mates in Management, but probably doesn't want to be No.2 to any of them.

Sure this has been covered in the thread elsewhere but cant be arsed to read seven pages. Brown confirmed he is a Sunderland fan.

He won't leave, Uncle Ron has promised him a nice new stadium, and he's even gone to the effort to produce some new plans......

Probable outcome - Big Sam doesn't want him as no 2 and choses someone else. Game over.

Very interesting conversation on talk sport right now. They are discussing the Sunderland number two. Sam Matterface was saying Phil Brown seems to have distanced himself BUT he thinks if premier league Sunderland come calling he might just take it. Other guys said 'what manager to number two, really?' But Matterface says yes its premier league, and you have to be there to be spotted for anything higher than what he is currently at.
Seems they are having the same debate as us, the only thing they agreed on is he is doing a great job at Southend.

The whole thing is a non story. Someone mentioned it on a.Sunderland forum adding two and two and making 5. PB has said he doesn't want to go, Ron has said they haven't made an approach time for the mods to close this thread

I do agree with these comments... Give it a day or two and shut the thread down, it really isn't going to happen.

Interesting that Sam has said PB has distanced himself. I'm sure PB will be questioned next time he's in the live 5 studio.

So according to todays Echo he was offfered the number 2 role and turned it down.

So much for it all being about the money....

Trying to second guess what PB will do is never easy.
For example; Our teams have been slow build up and solid defending and then, now, Phil starts calling for faster forward and wing play AND getting really quite cross from the sidelines.
He appears to be image and money AND now he appears to want to stay at poor, falling down SUFC!
I would like to know what the pycho-babble folk make of him, certainly no Bilel box of frogs BUT our Tango is an interesting, unpredictable, sometimes very good, sometimes average guy.

According to the Echo he has turned down the chance to go to Sunderland, I have great respect for him as that would off been an easy big pay day!!

Just wondered if we was at the bottom of the league he would off jumped!!!
