there are only 3 clubs in league one that havent signed anyone!

us - for some unknown reason we havent signed anyone! is it money that is the problem!?!

southampton - going thru takeover so sure they'll be bringing players in very soon!

stockport - big money problems at club, struggling to survive!

its worrying that we havent just feel like we're in money problems but big ron is keeping it to himself so we all dont worry!

I'm sure Tilson hasn't been sitting twiddling his thumbs all summer, he's come out and said he's waiting to hear back from someone so we'll just have to wait and see.

For whatever reason it seems to always be an uphill task attracting players to Southend.

No, never again. The club are employing a system of only playing people who have come through the ranks or who are offspring of current/ex players.

You have to earn the right to play for the club now.

What happened to the defender we are waiting to hear back from? Has he returned our calls or f***ed off to a crap team we will probably beat home and away this season?

Nope. Southend are turning to science, at this very moment RM has top scientists holed up in the Roots Hall basement, cutting and splicing the best bits of DNA from not just our current crop of players but from our old legends too, we kept Stan the Man's jockstrap for a reason you know.

Whilst all the jokes in this thread are funny they do take away the seriousness of the point that only three sides havent got anyone and we a one of them-the other two are financially ****ed....

Perhaps his going to try and Grow another Freddy or Gower from hair left in the shower plug hole. Just our luck we'l end up with a cross between Phil Gridlett and Michael Ricketts.

Actually, only Stockport are financially buggered. Southampton have been taken over by a Swiss Billionaire.

Stockport have also been taken over and IIRC have their CVA agreed with their creditors. The point that two of the three teams still to make a signing were prevented from doing so by financial rules still stands though.

I don't however draw any conclusions from the lack of signings other than:
- we're being picky
- we're trying to adhere to the current wage structure
- we haven't got a fortune for transfer fees
- we're not going to pay more than we think a player is worth, even if we have enough money,
- we don't have a rich backer, shiny new ground, big-name manager, glorious history, etc.

Nothing in what I've read or heard to indicate any financial issues other than those acknowledged publicly (i.e. loss of revenue following relegation, players still on CCC wages).

Money is the problem.... or lack of it...
