Car Insurance

Breakdown yes, others can be looked at. I dont have the capital to purchase a one off, so has to be monthly.
I may ammend the voluntary excess & search other companies.

Do we all agree though that car insurance premiums are *****!?

P.S. Telling Kwikfit i felt like they were shafting me with 15" black rubber ****, caused a very long akward silence.
Eventually she laughed, i told her she must know how it felt then?
!

Girth that is classic!

:hilarious:

Im 33 with 3 years no claims and 3 points .

My insurance is £320 fully comp with my partner added 3rd party. Thats with swift cover.

Try all the price comparison sites, I prefer www.confused.com (car insurance Cricko not your sordid sites!), find a site that has a supplier with the best price for your needs. The industry is now held accountable for MIDAS & thus will be charging us more to run it!
LV/Nationwide worked best for me (green card needed etc)

After many phone calls & searching other companies i renewed with Kwik-fit.
I managed to get the total to pay reduced by over £400.00.
Which works out only £3.00 more per month, not perfect, but worth a **** later i guess.

Plus there are sending me a credit of £22.50 for last year.

Does your mum pay the rest of it for you?

I got a crappy 1.2 ford fiesta and pay just shy of £500 (insurance company is Virgin)
Same here but i pay £300 with the CO-OP No points but a non fault which i have received compo for and yet my premium has gone up I'm Paying an extra £100. 8 Years no claims too.

Mind you i'm paying in installments which bumps it up.

The non fault, were you hit up the rear?

250 euros fully comp with break down and hire car for a month if car cant be fixed and we dont pay road tax here and m.o.t,s lasts two years.
For the moment...............................(Tony, I know you LOVE those dots!:winking:)..........but I've heard talk..............................
With the van I'm obliged to pass a 'controle technique' every year, alternating between MOT and pollution tests. I use the van for business and I suppose that makes quite a difference to the insurance? I pay a sizeable 640 euros (fully comp) with AXA (perhaps I should shop around?) and keep that down by doing less than 10000 kms a year.
The strange system here is that you are locked into an insurance contract and to end it you have to remember to send the company a registered letter two months (I think) befor the policy is due for renewal.

Thought you're wife was a teacher,Yogi?I'm sure the Maif could do better than that.

I'm 23 and drive a Fiesta Zetec S 1.6i and pay £560 over 10 months (accelerator policy as I had no claims bonus'). That also includes my extras for paying monthly. For me when I added my mum and sister to the policy it dropped the quote by around £150. Yet when I added my dad (who has been driving longer than both put together and has no convictions or claims) the quote went up £100. I think that tells you all you need to know about how men are treated by insurance companies, even ones that are safe drivers.

Still I don't think my £560 is too bad for a driver under 25 with a hot hatch, but I am not looking forward to my renewal quote this year as the premiums have shot up since I last renewed.

Yep, but I don't think MAIF is as good, now it open to everyone. I think, however, the main problem comes when you say that you want to use your vehicle commercially, then, for insurance, the playing field doesn't seem to be at all the same.

48 and I dive a 2003 Works Cooper S, no points, full no claims, and depending on who you go with can be anywhere from group 15 to group 20, and pay a tad over £500.00 per year including the monthly payment premiums. Initially when I got the car last year I couldn't get a quote for less that 1K minimum and Churchill and the AA wouldn't even insure it :nope:. It took a while but I found a specialist MINI insurer who managed to quote me £421.00 fully comp :clap:in one lump sum and snapped it up. Gone up just over £100.00 in 12 months but I'm more than happy with that considering what some others on here are paying for theirs.

Still robbin barstewards though

How much in road tolls? I paid 160 euros for one journey last year. I know you can avoid the toll roads but most motoways seem to charge a toll.

That's not bad actually. I spent more than that in a Little Chef last time I went on holiday.

Most insurance companies will give you a discount if you are a regular Top Gear viewer.
